.....yet, with just as impressive a list as Fords', Toyota still had a stellar quality reputation. Here in the US that was due, I believe, to the lack of equivalent media coverage on defects by Japanese auto makers. What happened to Toyota this time is that there was a recording of people on the phone that were actually killed in a Toyota product, and we all know THAT is good television and ratings.
