Yes they can. Shame they don't get alot of support (i.e. not even a look in) because people have a high prejudice to 'australian film' for some reason. I'm not saying they are all perfect (dodgy budgets hold alot of them back) but FFS given some of the trollop that comes out of hollywood (% wise) you'd think people would give aussie film more of a go.
Add 'beneath hill 60' to your list....that is a great aussie film that was out not long ago. Sorry to hijack a thread mine (lol) but people need to give these local productions a go in my view. If its not for you then fine but alot of people i know hear 'aussie made' film and just avoid it. Wierd. Especially when you consider it keeps expertise in this country and no matter how crap the story aussie films are nearly always well shot. They just look great.
The Tomorrow when the war began film is an example. I'm a massive fan of the book series so am very biased, but whatever your view on that film (or wolf creek or alot of the other fimls out there) you can't deny it looks great. The dunebuggy chase of that garbage truck alone is worth it. - and most of the crashes and jumps are all live action too. No CG stuff here....
Anyone on here seen the Dirty Deeds movie with bryan brown? Now that had some great live action car chases in it....classic cars to boot...
EDIT: sorry for the rant guys just a personal bugbear of mine is all.... kudos to GTP200 for getting this off the ground. Shame i didn't know about it earlier. Max respect i say.
