This has to be a golden era for all the players in the dual/single cab ute segment. The profit margins on these things must be astronomical!
The development that goes into them couldn't be a fraction of what goes into a normal passenger car. Old school tried and tested ladder frame, whack a masculine body on top, pull some tech of the corporate shelves - done! Driving dynamics and handling? Doesn't matter! The overall spec level is down as well, drum brakes one the back, spartan interiors. They're all built in Thailand, shipped over here with zero taxes, and they still cost close to $60k. The new V6 Amarok is pushing $80k!
Plus we're talking about the highest selling segment = mega mega huge crazy profits all round!
