Production of EV vehicles is significantly more polluting than that of a regular car, and if the electricity source used to recharge it comes from coal then it's doing even more sweet FA for the environment. While also putting extra load on our ridiculously under capacity power plants. Coming black outs are a certainty in the future. The Vic government allowing the coal powered plant to be closed, and thus relying on importing electricity from other states was idiotic without the resources to replace it's output. Once we have a heatwave across the country it's lights out. 100% this will happen. Just a matter of time.

He's stating logic and fact. Blackouts have occurred in Vic after Hazlewood was shut down - same in SA after they dropped two coal power stations. Those gov's decided renewables would be the replacements, unfortunately, they don't provide power when the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow. And they place unrealistic targets (Vic 50% renewables)which is expensive to implement - SA has now(closely followed by Vic)the highest power prices in the country - the wholesale price has gone up around 2 1/2 times.
The SA and Fed gov's are giving $2billion (IIRC)to upgrade the Tesla batt farm in SA from 100MW to 150MW (megawatts) - it'll power all of SA for around 8-9mins, enough time to throw an extn cord over to Vic .
I guess the majority of us have no objection to EV's and clean energy - problem is you have to look at the reality, effects and cost involved in implementing these systems.
