Jaguar seems to be taking the opposite approach to Toyota, and that's fine.
I don't think Jaguar were exactly flying anyway, so they're taking a different approach.
Time will tell. Most of the people complaining of this change were probably not in the market for a Jaguar, ever.
I think the primary demographic that carmakers need to target is by income. Bentley and Rolls Royce aren't going to target me - a regular joe on ~average income who doesn't crave opulence, or care much about his own image. I like my flannies, and I'm still chugging around town in an 07 BFII XT, and I wouldn't change it.
Things like gender, race, sexuality, religion etc. shouldn't matter, and I think focusing on particular demographics is idiotic when all people want is a decent bloody vehicle.
However, Jaguar can do what they want and ultimately its success will be based on sales.
99% of people here are probably not their targeted demographic, so honestly, whatever.
