Default Re: That's It-Stop Using your Brakes Everyone.

Hi guys,
When i was young 21 years old i worked for a Taxi Company in Paddington in Sydney.
it was one of the largest Cab Company in Sydney then. They had a garage Section, Tyre Bay, and Service Bay.

I worked in the garage Section from 1977 to 1984. I would watch the Guys in the Brake Bay which was across from my section. They did brakes 8 hours a day 5 days a week with not wearing gloves or a mask and they would inhale this brake dust every day.
As I said here https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11444398

The dangers of asbestos dust in brake pads has been known at least since 1970 when I first started working on cars. The sad part is that the CRC Brakleen I and others used to regularly use to deal with the asbestos brake pad dust (soak the pads with the CRC sprays and use it to clean the dust off any drums or discs) when changing pads at that time contained carbon tetrachloride , trichloroethene or tetrachloroethyene or something similar that was later found to cause liver and kidney cancer. And there were no carbon filter mask available in those days. The formulae has since changed - some discussion here http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages...tml?1408150589
And the Marlows branded asbestos pads somehow also turned up in bulk in the local Cash Convertors (WA Pawn Brokers); I suspect someone "rescued" them from the tip.
