You only need to walk down a busy city footpath to see this.

Some drivers need to snap out of being totally distracted, while floating along in their wheeled lounge room and concentrate on the job at hand, driving the vehicle.

IMPO I still consider one of the worst automotive invention is cruise control.
Also dash camers who submit footage where they’re unknowingly breaking road rules or are just being an obnoxious twat who has failed to avert a crash even though they aren’t in the wrong (that well known video of the truckie who took out the Ute towing a caravan who come across into his lane as he was passing is a prime example).

First road train company I worked at weren’t allowed cruise control on the fleet as stipulated by insurance. This requirement seem to go out the window when in cab monitoring systems came into play.

Saw an in car video from the US where a guy passed out with cruise on, the car kept driving for considerable distance and ended up driving through a field before getting stuck in a table drain.
