Default Ford Australia 100 Years Celebration

For a brand to last up to and beyond 100 years is rare and worth acknowledgement. It still cuts me deep that we no longer make Ford's, or any cars in this country, but that's a complicated and deeply controversial story on its own. Ford do still employ a large development team, run a large proving ground and have their own design center. When GM and Toyota closed shop, its similar facilities were shuttered, and GM went on to kill the Holden brand entirely. A changing market waits for no one, Ford adapted, GM-H took too long to adapt and ultimately failed.

Reading comments online, there seems to be a lot of long-term ex-factory employees who are p.ssed off for not getting an invite to this event. While I can understand that, these people have not worked for the company for nearly 9 years now, they couldn't accommodate every single person who ever worked for the company over the last 100 years.

Meh, we're basically in the same boat as Holden Fans...

I AM a dinosaur, a Ford-Man, from an era when that meant something. But my Love & Allegiance is to a concept that is historical only. Same as Holdens.

Sure, I might get hit in the head with a brick tomorrow, drop 70+ IQ points, and decide to buy a dualcab ute. But even if I do, the Ranger is not what occupies my dreams.
Even a Mustang, yes it's a car to be lusted after, but it's never been a hero car for Australia.

And whilst this may be sad, I still have my memories and my dreams. I don't know WHAT my Grandson will grow up dreaming of owning???

Most likely Chinese built electric car that drives itself, while he can play games on his mobile phone.

There are current long term employees that weren't invited either...
