Dent in door

Driving to work yesterday a four wheel drive flicked an empty can off the road straight in to the passenger door of the LTD. Put a dent the size of a 20 cent piece and a small scratch in the door.

Does anyone know of anyone in the S/E suburbs ( near Langwarrin ) of Melb that does a good job of repairing small dents and what sort of prices they charge.

I often wonder why things like this have to happen to me, wrong place at the right time!!!

Could you just take the door trim off and gently tap it out yourself? Won't remove the scrathc of course.
I've got a dent in the rear passenger door on the Fairmont which I intend to try and knock out tomorrow.

there is a suction cup you can buy from most auto stores that pulls small dents out. not sure how much they are, but they do the job really well. once again of course, it wont remove the scratch, but it will be cheaper then geting a panel beater to do it.

He is driving a LTD and has asked for a decent repairer. I don't think he needs idea's on how to repair an old Taxi, on the cheap.

I can't assist you with the names of any quality repairers in you locale, but recommend that you get someone who knows what they are doing to have a look at it. There a mobile mobs who specialize in small scratch and dent repairs who come to you. They don't have the overheads that a Smash repairer have, and can do a relatively good job quickly and more cost effectively, if that is what you require.

He didn't actually mention repairing the scratch, just the dent. I don't care if it's a TL50 or a ex cab, if an amateur could repair it themselves in 5 minutes why would they pay someone else to do it? God forbid we give the man options. At least then he makes an informed decision.

Not having a chop, just stating the obvious.
Peterbans post didn't start with ' I'm broke and you won't believe' as we seem to get in the Bar or Pub.

He did however ask if anybody knew of a repaired "who did a good job".
That in itself means he is not looking to get an elcheapo job, rather a good repair from a good repaired. Add to that he is in a LTD!

Sometimes we need to read what is posted more than once to take in what is requested.
Furthermore, to reply to your question. If an amateur could fix it in 5 mins, a decent repairer could do it in 2, and would likely not charge. A Decent repairer would then know you would go away happy, and heavens forbid, would return when you require his services again, because he did a great job and didn't screw you over last time!

I don't think I would try the repair myself as I would just make it worse.
Apparently a dent causes the metal to stretch and so it is an artform to get it back into perfect shape without using filler.
I will look in the yellowpages for someone in the area. I was just hoping that someone had had a good experience with a dent repairer in the area.
I had one done years ago when the petrol bowser swivel fell off and dented the boot, but was in a different part of the country.
