Default What a find

Just had a phone call from my aunty and uncle.

They have just bought a VX Commodore, sedan, low k's, etc for 15g

Now they had it looked over by a mechanic to make sure it was A1. Apprently the mechanic went silent, closed the bonnet and said "keep that bonnet closed and don't show the motor to many people."

A bit confused my uncle asked 'why?'

To which the mechanic replied, "The motor has a real Peter Brock signature on it!"

How's that for a find haha. Would it make the car worth more then what it is? Not really a 'collectable' haha. My uncle is stoked but!

I'll get some pics asap.

To make a topic out of this, what finds have you made when buying a car?

A heap of 1 and 2c copper coins in my 2003 BA Ghia completely confused me.

I think the mechanic over reacted a bit.

Excuse my ignorance, but just how does that make it a rare find, so what if it has PB signature on it, there are many vehicles around with such signature's, it doesn't mean a thing, unless ofcourse it was a genuine Brock commodore to which it isn't as he never did them in the VX series, ??????.

How can the mechanic be so sure it is the real deal?

Good point.

How do people know what is a genuine signature or not.

Just out of curiosity was the vl the last brock signature series???

$15k for a VX? Dont they normally go for high single digits? Even SSs can be had for low teens.

Might be worth a bit if the real Peter Brock was lying in the boot. God bless his soul that you would have to move his boney *** aside to get the spare tyre out.

$15k's for a VX with a Brock signature?! You sure the mechanic wasn't in cahoots (man I love that word) with the seller? Sounds like they've just paid $7k for a signature they have to open the bonnet to see.

bugger i betta sell the AU, it's got Allan Moffats, Steve Richards, and Mark Winterbottoms signatures on it....should be able to sell it for millions as it must be a one-of-a-kind collaboration between the 3 of them.

i'll never have to work again!

A few boxes of .22 hornet rounds, an Alvey sidecast reel, about 3 or 4 cable ties, all tied around the tailshaft (to play a joke on the owner I think) and a pack of Alpine 12's.

All were found in a hoon spec VR commodore I used to dirve in Darwin.

I picked up an old ka laser ghia for parts quite a few years ago from the wreckers next door to where I once worked. He paid some old guy 50 for it who trailered it to the yard.
When I started to strip it, I found just over 3 grams of heroin, burnt spoons and syringes in the seat pocket, When i pulled the front passenger seat out also found $750 cash stuffed under it. :

I found an Engelbert Humperdinck cassette wedged firmly in the tape player of my wagon when I bought it. It wouldn't eject either, so must've been there since about 1982. Considering the radio didn't work either, it made for an entertaining 3 hour drive home, singing "Quando, Quando, Quando" and "Spanish Eyes"...

Found a BIG bag of dope in a ZH Marquis I bought for parts... Only paid $200 for the car, so it could've been a winner, but further examination found that it was mouldy and possibly the same vintage as the car. Left it in the sellers letterbox the next day.

Snap ...... same here when I picked up a ratted out XF two years ago. Almost 1 pound that was taped to the scalloped out lower seat cushion. Brother and his mates were in heaven (literally) for months.

Bought a Mazda work van for $150 about 5 years ago. The drivers seat wouldn't move all the way back so I had a look and found what was stopping it. It was about a 15 inch Maglite torch and a 12 inch Sidchrome shifter. Still got the torch and spanner...Van's long gone!
