There was a short guide on here somewhere that went through the process of changing the fuel filter. I've tried searching but can't find it.
If anyone knows the link or can give me a quick run down on what needs to be done, I'd really appreciate it |

Thats the one
I should have known you did the write up lol While I've got your attention, how do you go about loosening the tensioner/fan belt. I was told to put a 3/8 ratchet in the square hole but I don't know which way (anti/clockwise) to turn as it seems to be on very tight. Do you have any tips? |

you have to push the ratchet handle towards the passenger side gaurd(or clockwise), you need to put a bit of muscle behind it, a small bit of pipe on the end of the ratchet or a jack handle will make it easier.

I just changed my dads filter on his ute.
It was a straight forward swap, Just it had a 14mm nut instead of 15mm. Is that how all series 1 models are? Gk great doc cheers, Woody

removing the belt sometimes helps if you pull on the top at the same time you are pushing the ratchet, i broke a cheapie ratchet by hanging off it too hard, then tried again by pulling another part of the belt and loosened straight away

I'm having trouble getting the black hose off. I've tried putting the screwdrivers down the side but nothing gives. Anyone whose done it can help?
EDIT: Don't worry. Just as I pretty much gave up on it for fear of breaking it. I got it off. Last edited by JMO; 18-05-2008 at 03:43 PM. |
