I was amazed when someone in the "Favourite Holden" thread (which I incedently started) had youtube footage of a VH Commodore doing one of the best ever burnouts and it had a 351 clevo with a toploader gearbox.
I have heard of a HT panelvan having a 250 crossflow in it and an FJ drag car with a 289 windsor in it, (sorry no pics). Have you guys ever seen a Ford in a Holden, Ive seen plenty of Chevs in Fords, and in XYs aswell, it really is a slap in the face, so now its time to expose the Ford powered Holdens once and for all and give one back for all the Ford fans out there!

One of Dick Johnsons last drives in his yellow XU1, was fitted out with a 351 cleveo.
(I kid you not). |

The cousin of a mate of mine has a torana he uses for hillclimbs, he got a 250 crank reground to fit in the 202, so it still looks original, just goes a lot better... Not exactly a ford engine in a holden, but part thereof...

Mate of mine's uncle has a torri drag car, previous engine was an injected crossflow twin turbo on methanol (I seem to recall it was 191ci). That bit the dust a few years ago while I was watching it on a pass.
Now its got a barra182 of about the same ci, twin-turbo and runs methanol. Funny the passers by during an evening at kwinana who stop and have a chuckle.

It can work both ways with Ford cars being powered by GM especially small block Chevs in hot rods.

Hey what about the XY GT Falcon which was featured in STREET MACHINE not too long ago where the falcon was intended for track use and was powered with a LS1 motor.
That definetely got the critics talking......

Back in 1985 a guru called Brian Plankman fitted a 186 with a three on the tree "racin shifter" into a XY GTHO. It was called the 6 in a row HO

I can remember back in about 1964 there was an FJ running around the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne with a Customline V8 that left no room for the starter it was inside the mud guard
also the HJ Kingswood with the rotary that was mentioned that was called a Mazda Road Pacer as I recall the bodies were shipped to Japan and fitted with rotaries Thanks John |

A guy by the name of Rob Pilkington over here, had a HG Ute with a blown Cleveland in it, and it pulled very low 7s in the quarter.

I was pretty sure it came done to cost, personally i dont know. But i have been told that chev motors were/are cheaper than ford racing parts. As i said no first hand expierence it is based on answer i recieved when i asked the same question (why would you put a holden motor in a ford).

I knew that no one would believe me from what I said in my previous post, so here's some evidence I found on Draglist.

I watched a HB torana at the drags back home, that was powered by a 250 x-flow used to have some pics of it lifting the wheels off the ground.

I remember seeing an FJ years ago with a 460. I think it was called the "Aboriginie" and was owned by the Gatt Brothers.
Years ago a good friend of mine show me some photo's from back in the early 70's of a Corvette drag car with a Clevo in it. I imagine it would have upset the Chev heads. He is a rodder and is always going on about the rodder who toss Chev into Fords and how it is ok, but if someone threw a Ford engine into a Chev, or a Holden it would be seen as the biggest sin.

I'm just waiting for the day someone throws a Barra Turbo into a VL.
I remember seeing I think it was a HZ, might have been a HX a couple of years ago with a XF 250 Cross Flow. |

I've seen pics of a 57 Chev with a 8BA flathead in it. Wish I could find the link for it, but no luck.
