Hi,
I am looking at fitting a stallie in my car when the engine comes out in the next couple of weeks. From advise online I am looking at a 2500 stallie. I had a look in my manual last night and it said the standard stall in a Mont Ghia AU3 is 2000-2400. What use is a hi stall at 2500 if the stock is 2000-2400? I can see the gain if you are only getting 2000 out of stock and then install a 2500 unit but what if I'm already getting 2400? Has anyone installed a 2500 in a stock V8? Any results? Oh, I need to mention that I am installing a stock 220kw XR8 in the Mont. |

I reckon go with a 3000 - 3100 RPM unit. The impact on fuel economy is very minor and you'll learn to shift down a little more up gradients to relieve the engine from "groaning" in 4th and read the traffic situation ahead a bit more.

the standard stall is 1800 from all reports ive seen
but you can flash it out to about 2-2400 if you have good brakes and tyres.. wadsymoo had a 2800 stall in a AU fairmont V8 with a cam and the 200kw motor and full exhaust and it boogied along nicley off the line id definatly suggest 2800 -3100rpm

I had a 2700 stally a few cars back (was a 6 though) and it drove so well that next time I'll be going around the 3000ish mark.

I think i'll get a 2800, sounds like the best option. Anyone know where I can get the best price for one in Vic? |

the way you can tell your stall rpm is hold the brake hard on and accelerate the rpm it stops at is the stall rpm
