Default AU Audio (change H/U) info required

Hey guys, Just stopped by for a little help, i'm doin a headunit install into an AU wagon in the coming days, just wondering if theres any little things to look out for whit reguard to wiring and mounting, I've fitted hundreds of Headunits in my days but never one to an AU

Any help would be great...

nothing really to look out for, go buy a harness instead of cutting the stock one, (im guilty of doing it), and if its single din, go buy a pocket made for the au.

watch the pockets though, for a s3 it will only sit on the bracket at the back. You'll need to screw the h/u bracket into the dash.

be prepared to destroy the origional h/u getting it out

Get a au stereo removal tool from ebay for $10 & won't u destroy anything..... Takes seconds to pull out & less chance of scratching stereo surround fascia!!!!

Even better idea is to go down to your local Ford Dealer or car install place and ask them to pull it out. But if they charge you, tell em to bugger off.

Also, in my experience, there isn't really alot of room behind the dash for a lot of wiring, so try to make the loom as short as possible.

yep yep, the stock unit has been unclipped and is just sitting in the dash, new one is single din and i was plannin on getting one of those looms from Autobarn as well as the pocket, Many thanks for ya replys guys

If i remember correctly, with HU out, 2 on either side and 2 in the ashtray, then starting from the bottom slowly pull it out and whince everytime you hear a cracking noise.

i used liquid nails to hold the cage in on my fascia lol works a treat too!

i put a single din in my au2 and used the plastic pocket thing from JB Hi Fi. the pocket fits like crap no matter how many times i try to fit it. is there a better fitting one available?

yeah my pocket didnt want to go in either. it had these clips on the top, ended up having to snap them off to get it in benieth my new unit.
