Default vacuum loss to brakes

when the car is driven a bit hard i soda lose braking for a little bit i run Slotted and crossed drilled rotors (brakes are S1) with some good pads

so what id like to know is how to vamp up the vacuum

More vacuum wont help, hard driving is heating up the pads & rotors causing them to fade, S1 while adequate for day to day stuff really improve with the premo or BA upgrade also check your fluid for discolouration it may be time for a flush as this will also overheat and cause problems

S1 brake booster has a reputation for leaking and then totally letting go.I lost all brakes 2 times with second hand units. I recomend you dont muck around and get it checked. If you hear a slight hissing sound when you press the brake pedal dont drive the car.The booster is shot

I ran those rotors & pads at Heathcote with no issues. They're suited for the track. How hard are you driving it lol. Only time I ever had vac issues in that was when it ran in factory. Is the car dropping in RPM's or is it only brake loss? Check booster and what about that small leak in the line? Might be worth re-checking it maybe?

dude, if you ran out of vacuum assistance to the brake booster you'd just end up with a rock hard brake pedal, but you'd be able to stop fine.

if your foot is going to the floor and she ain't locking up the wheels, seek help now, do not drive the car, that'd be being a danger to yourself and everyone else on the road.

as others have said, if the brake booster itself is shot, get a new one. or an AUII/III (proper) one, or do a BA upgrade.

Few things.

1. Whoosha first mentioned "premo" (meaning premo AU bits) before the BA upgrade comment! LOL!

2. What series is the white AU?

If that's 2-3, then do the brake conversion using those bits. You'll have everything you need, perhaps except maybe wanting to get some slotted rotors (if you didn't already have them on the white AU) and some new pads to match.

3. If the white AU is a S1, then keep the brake booster for a spare. Just in case it is on the way out.

4. Get it sorted pretty quick Andrew. I had a brake failure earlier this year with the family in the car and I thank the Good Lord that I was only doing 40kmph or so!

all brake boosters look brand new. it'll probably have a date code on the stickers if you look, and i bet the date code is in excess of a decade ago

I overheated my brakes a few months ago and had to resort to a handbrake stop to avoid hitting a speed hump at 60kph lol
but yeah 100kph brake fade sounds like you need to relax a bit Andrew lol :P

I'm inclined to agree with you. I don't think it's the booster but then I'm fairly sure that booster is original so could be a valve issue or whatever. And I don't think there's anything wrong with the pads or rotors. I think the problem is Andrew's driving (hard braking) and thinking he's running on Brembos lol. I'm not having a dig. The reason I suspect that is because Andrew always preferred the braking on the Fairmont over the white AU. And yeah they were better but at the end of the day, it's S1. Maybe he just pushes the Fairmont a little harder coz he knows it holds up better when comparing but really..... (ummm for example Andrew, the Werribee Sth issue lol)

Just do the upgrade already. You know you wanna lol.

Could be stuck callipers, though they tend to not go in pairs, so you'd get it pulling one way or the other as well.

If it is just brake fade, then ease up a little on the braking...
don't slam em on before corners, slow down gradually....
If it's not brake fad then we'll go see about an upgrade man...!
