I agree, people who arent really into cars have no idea, even people who are car enthusiats, but not neccessarily ford ones dont know. That only leaves people who are into cars and ford. Needs to get out there more.

Toyota's sales continued to recover after supplies of its cars took a particularly hard knock from the earthquake and tsunami. The company held 20.2 percent of the Australian market in October. The Holden unit of GM took 12.0 percent of the market in October, while Hyundai jumped to third spot with 8.8 percent. Mazda followed with 8.2 percent, pipping Ford with 8.1 percent.

This really suprises me as LPG was supposed to be 30% of Falcon sales and its been on sale for 2 months now. Surely with all the pent-up demand from months and months of not having LPG it would be firing along. I assume supplier issues are at hand.

LPG has not been on sale for 2 months... Dealers have only been getting proper stock for the last 5 weeks, and of that the stock that is coming through is pretty ordinary, e.g. XT's that no one wants. There has also been a hold up at the factory end with parts for the LPI cars...

Ford have only been building XR6 petrols and a handful of gas XT's and commercial utes. Once they start rolling out big numbers of XR6, G6 & G6E LPI we will see some changes.

Plus everyones holding off for FGII, either to save on FGI or to get the later car.

The one that worries me now is the Territory, theres plenty of stock out there now and they seem to have dropped back down... They were doing between 900 - 1100 with SYII, 1200 with SZ is pretty poor if you ask me.

The Focus is too expensive. I'm also a bit disappointed by it's interiors size. It's far too small for a car of it's class. It's like an inbetween Fiesta and Mazda 3 size when it should be Mazda 3 size.

Actually, Territory is saving Falcon, the average transaction price of mostly diesel sales
with no discounts to speak of means that Ford is roaring along with an impressive product
mix and when FGII comes out, all the $36,990 specials will vanish as there's not much FG I stock....

Hopefully they fix the rear end look of Falcon with FG2, because the tail lights are awful.

They are the major let down on how the car looks overall, which is great until you get a rear on view.

October was a low production month. Down days, the 11 day shutdown at end of September/start of October plus only building cars to fill orders kept numbers down.

November is the month to get a gauge on how Ford is travelling, production is back to full, stocks are cleared out with no down days and just the 2 days off for Melbourne cup, so there are no excuses.

Focus and Ranger are suffering because Ford can't get enough stock, especially Focus, Ranger now has the shutdown due to the floods to deal with too. Ford really needed Focus to fire but they knew they weren't going to get much stock out of Europe and Thai built models are still at least 6-9 months away. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, these are the 2 most important imported Fords and they can't get what they need.

While more than half of all Falcon sales are XR6, not all of them sell for the low $36,990.
Don't forget that originally, a lot of those early this year were built with regular screen and 17" wheels.
The more desirable ones continued to sell at higher prices.

The test will be what Holden does with their new SV6 and whether they continue the discounting
after the new model arrives.....

Be very careful assuming that Ford has thousands of discounted units to sell, Broadmeadows is now pretty bare...

Read that as only old stock, Ford is now only building to order and quick sailing the last of FG 1 stock.

What is of more importance is FG II, you won't be seeing those prices with FG II, not at release anyway.
Look at territory, the RRPs are holding fast and reaping good sales, the same will happen with FG II.

As lowriding said, XR6 LE's are at $34,990 drive away.

I may or may not have one on order with manual, curtains, full-sized spare, tint, carpet mats, scuff plates, bootliner, etc. for less than that price...!

Falcon needed more standard equipment to remain competitive. The world and the competition haven't stood still since the launch of the FG. You can't charge more for what people expect should be there in the first place and still expect market share to increase or even stay the same.

So yes the basic equipment is much better in XR6 - it needed to be. Doesn't mean that customers - mostly fleet will see that as worth more. It may however keep Falcon sales numbers ticking along for another two or three years at current prices and stop resale prices of Falcon slipping any further.

All in all something Ford may not be entirely happy with, but will most probably accept.
