went to grawill ford a month or so ago and they had no interest in selling one, told me they where all finished and good luck finding one. I took that as a sign to order a new bar crusher instead.

F6 hasn't got the heritage unfortunately, so it was always going to go out with a whimper.

Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

Not that the GT's were much to sing about between the 70's and up until the Miami's were released. Nobody cared about FPV until the "Typhoon" made an appearance.

Yes but the Falcon GT nameplate dates back nearly 50 years in Australia.
The Typhoon nameplate didn't last that long anyway when Ford dropped it to just F6. I liked the name F6 Typhoon, and then that idiot decided to drop the Ghia nameplate, Ford Australia's marketing at it's finest.

What's a name without anything to back it up? The more recent GT's (EB, EL, B-Series, first FG's) were little more than a marketing exercise, really. They were far from being anything truly special. Then along came the F6, out of nowhere, and absolutely crushes everything. The F6 and XR6 turbo put Ford Aus back on the performance car radar. They were also, arguably, the most Australian of all Australian cars (6 cylinder Falcons, that is.)

FPV was just an 'also ran' without the F6.

Now, where's my flame suit?

Not disputing this, I love them, but the GT was always going to be the one that went out with a bang.

Probably the reason the F6 out sold the GT 2 to 1! OH WAIT!

But please lets not go there? I thought this was just about F6 and not a stupid 'vs' thread?

Neither are better ..... just different! OR just have one of each

Yeah except for the most successful GT model they ever sold, and all the magazine front pages, and all of the news articles, and all......hang on, I dont think you know what you are talking about.

I like the fact that the F6 (and turbos) are probably one of the last of that straight 6 turbo era. Ford pretty much took the rains over from the japs in 02 and advanced their platform to the current F6 which is probably one of the best bases to modify there is/was.

It's a shame it's all V6's or 4 bangers from here on out.

There is one other other long serving RWD turbo straight 6 out there actually - the one you find in a BMW.

Quite tune-able too they say.

135's are coming down a bit in price now too. I imagine it would be pretty horrific if anything broke tho.

This is the car that I feel brought FPV back into the market and ironically its the first car dieing off with the name... clueless ford. It was my favourite model out of their range.

One bonus of the FPV brand ending is us regular (non FPV) Ford dealers can stock all the good stuff now - hello Mustang... :-)

I wonder whether this will mean an F6 will depreciate slower than an XRT, and whether that would be enough to offset the extra costs of running 'em...

3 year old F6 or near new XRT - hmmmm....

I'd burn a warehouse full of mustangs down if it meant FPV's resurrection lol

I don't think you'll be doing your little happy dance when the Mustang gets here, if you're still revelling in the former glory of your F6.

Mustang is the car of the future mate, there's big things destined for this car. It'll be the one to beat and the one setting the benchmark in terms of performance and aftermarket capability- mark my words.

You look at what they're doing with them now, let alone when the new engines come with them next year.

These will be a force and at the end of the day- they are not only a Ford, they will be THE Ford.

Keeping this as if we were at the 'pub'. The Mustang maybe the future but it won't be part of my future hence why I didn't wait for the Mustang. Regarding aftermarket capability, the sky is the limit if someone wants to mod an F6.....look at what BTA etc is doing now.

Bog stock is my thing, if I'm sitting behind a semi approaching an overtaking lane with a mustang with me I'll be dancing for a little longer unless it's a shelby when we both 'boot' it.

I'm keeping my eye on some of the American muscle soon to hit our shores but it won't be the mustang for me. No denying the Mustang is a nice car but it's definitely not on my list. Cheers

I know who will be doing the smug little dance against the new Mustang 5.0 GT.......and it definitely will NOT be you in your F6. Furthermore, the impending GT350 (with a rumored 8,500 RPM 600+ HP FPC 5.2) will destroy the standard GT, so where does that leave your F6? Behind.

If anything the Mustang will leave the F6 for dead. The current one is a belter, add more power and torque and drop what is supposed to be 100+ kg out of it and the new one will be even more of a belter. It will walk an F6 no problem.

It makes more power, and will be lighter by at least 200 kg.
