Default With Falcon production ending ..... Will performance models be at greater risk of theft?

Would like your opinions, with Ford manufacturing closing, and no more Falcons as we know it....

Do you think the more modern performance and desirable models like F6's, XR8's, GT's, G6ET's, XR6T's are going to be targets for theives, more than ever before?

Including stripping for parts, hoon joyrides, etc

As an owner of any of the above... Does this worry you or is this something you have recently considered?

Yes... I know that's what insurance is for ... But still.

Considering the fact, that apart from the Mustang, and the Focus RS, there are no more V8's and performance replacements at the present time from Ford in sedans.

I know that older Falcons such as XY XA GT's , XB, XC coupes have always been a target, but I am referring more to the newer Falcon series from say BA onwards.

Thanks

So you also believe that prices will fall very quickly on the used market for these modern performance models?

Prices will gradually soften over time, any pent up demand has been satisfied for now. Besides us diehard Ford fans and our siblings interest for them is all but nonexistent, sadly a reality check that comes to light when it's time to sell.

Cheers Mick

The most stolen car in Australia is the Hilux, but that cold be related to just being common.
So statistically Hilux owners should be the most worried?

I think so. A detective I know has told me to keep my car out of sight over night as the "Apex gang" looks for performance cars such these. My car is locked away at night to avoid theft and the weather. A "well-known" FG GT with some nice mods was stolen early this morning, not far from my house.

And this white FG F6 was stolen last night, as reported in the "Show N Shine" sub forum, "Show us your FG" thread...

Rego C4RTEL. If you see it please ring 000 straight away.

That's the one I'm referring to except C4RTEL is a GT.

No. We are in the twilight of desirability. As others have said, demand will drop away. Anyway, they are too hard to fence locally and no-one overseas would want one so...

It seems an increasing number of car thieves are breaking and entering houses to acquire the keys these days. They seem to target more expensive Euros instead of the local performance cars.

Upcoming generations want tech, gadgetry and all the insignificant crap.

We're muscle car enthusiasts, or sorts.

These cars will be a bargain hunt in 15 years time. The baby boomers will fall off the perch and their kids won't know what it is, or want cash fast...

This happens in Melbourne every night, the Sudanese Apex gang is out of control. I know two people who have had their cars stolen by them. They used to go after the expensive Euros but they have now started stealing the local performance cars.

Yeah I have heard that it's getting pretty bad over there but it seems to be happening almost everywhere to some extent. There has definitely been an increase in break and enter type car thefts here in SA too. As cars become harder to steal by traditional methods, thieves are increasingly going to resort to knocking down the door to take the keys.

It's just a shame we can't blast 12 gauge slugs into home invaders like they do in that messed up country full of gun nuts. That would make them think twice.

The younger thieves will probably keep walking past manual performance cars to find an automatic, as they couldn't be bothered or wouldn't know how to drive a manual.

In the news last week there was a car jacking. The car wasn't taken because the knobs couldn't drive a manual.

Years ago I had a Mk1 Escort stolen off the street.
I had fitted a 2L with a celica 5 speed..

I heard the car start, and to add the pain of them tearing off in it was the grinding of the gears!!

Besta that sucks- I had a Mk11 Cortina with raceshop prepped 1600 - they were cool cars- like flying a small biplane-had soul-your Escort would have been sweet.

Back on thread- I think in 15 -20 years the market value of our performance Barras and Miamis will resemble the great depression.

The people then will be into smaller all wheel cars, electric, and petrol turbo with electronic whiz and gadgets and dual clutch autos to make a crap driver feel they are Ayrton Senna, and that is when they are allowed to drive them and turn off the autopilots.

People in 20 -30 years will look at our Miamis and Barras as dinosaurs, Big, Loud, Hungry, and scary that can bite you hard. The hard nut automotive enthusiasts who love full analog and limited computer involvement will be the only ones drooling..............

Yes i am concerned about being car jacked, look out any dude standing in front of me waving a hammer or axe it wont help you.I also am concerned what i would replace my 2014 pursuit with if it was written off, cars are a lot more popular and produced in larger numbers GTF 500 Verses Pursuit 120.

I guess the concern with having a modern or fairly new performance Falcon stolen, is say 6 plus months from now, when there are no more new ones left in Dealer stock.... What are you going to replace it with?

Performance Commodore? ... Maybe, till they stop production in 12 months.

Sure, there will be a few low kilometre, second hand ones around you could pick up but its not the same now with the Falcon no longer produced, as having a BMW or Audi stolen.... Which can always be replaced with a new one or latest model under insurance.

G'day...I'd love to put a sign on mine "Do Ye Really Want To Steal Me ..Do Ye Punk, Do Ye "..with a photo of Dirty Harry with a 44 Magnum...
and "Ge Head , Make My Day "
With my weird sense of humour set aside I think that there'd be not much worse than having some lowlife stealing your pride and joy for joyriding thrills or easy cash for parts or something..Waste of good oxygen they are....Cheers Rod..

You cant buy a XR8 now.
You cant buy a Typhoon.
You cant buy a GT.
Nothing will be any different to what it is now!

Jesus people are trying to create situations out of the shutdown of production.
