Hi All
I have a transit running 195/70R15 tyres, is it possible to replace these with
215/70R15 tyres.

Cheers

Yes but your rolling diameter will be wrong as will your speedo

Best to go to 205 65 15 or 215 60 15

What model transit?
Do you know what the OEM tyres were?
What are you trying to achieve? Looks, handling, grip, etc?
How wide are your rims?

It's a 2008 MK7, the tyres are 195/70R15
I just had a chance to get some almost new 215/70R15 load rated tyres for $10 each. So I was hoping they would work, but looks like they wont.

Well here's the critical question:
I the speed limit says 70, do you
  1. Make sure you stay under because its a limit
  2. stick obsessively to exactly 70 as per your speedo
  3. try to sit on 75 because you know there is some inaccuracy and grace
  4. float between 70 and 80
If you answered 1 or 2, you'll be fine. The difference is a few percent.
3 or 4 could be a problem with speed cameras. Depending on how accurate that speedo was, the extra few percent could push you over if you already push the limit.

I have similarly oversize tyres on my car, and only get the tickets I deserve, but there's no grace left in my speedo. If I hit a camera with the speedo reading 75~76, its a ticket.

Stick with standard sizes as vans and there tyres are load rated for safety reasons and your speedo will be basically 100% accurate.

Cheap tyres will end up costing you more in the long run!!!
