Default How many of you guys have XR5 Turbos?

As the title states, how many of you guys have XR5 Turbos? I know this forum is mostly Falcon centric, but I have read some older threads about XR5 Turbos before, and I'm wondering whether these cars are popular on this forum.

Came close to buying one (Brand New) on two separate occasions over the Years...even took a couple of Test Drives at the Dealers...but decided on something else on each occasion. Nice Cars.

Yeah that's unfortunately the case with these cars... They sometimes get picked up buy the wrong kinds of people who abuse and destroy them...

Had one for about 11 years from new (LT in silver).
Loved that car, so much fun.

I've got an LS XR5T in Blue, so both pre facelifts and pretty similar... How many km did you end up putting on it and any mods?

No mods outside of a de-res.

I had it until it got to about 240k km. It had an issue with the head and we decided it was a good time to get a bigger car for the family so it left.
I do miss driving it, i just don't miss the fuel and maintenance bills LoL

I had a Mondeo XR5 in 2008. Great touring car with the family onboard. Comfy, quick & well appointment for the time. Kept it for 8 years; still in my top 3.

Mondeo's are a better cruiser, and they have cruise control too

I've had my LV for 2.5yrs and 4000kms EO stock as a rock other than short shift kit. The paint mesmerizes me but capturing on a phone cam isn't point and shoot. Watching the changing play of light in the original (unlike the 100 hail damaged EO cars repainted in Adelaide) tricoat would almost make you pull up a chair and a beer. But after a 8 year experiment in hatchbacks and the eventual epiphany that im a sedan guy she'll be hitting the market shortly. I'll miss her though. That Volvo engine has a feel of its own, easy clutch and a sweet shifting box. Course it's been three months i've been meaning to move her

Wow that's a real nice Electric Orange XR5T... It's the first one I've ever seen that isn't completely shot paint wise... Also, the sunroof isn't particularly common either... Is it cloth or leather, and how many km does it have? Looks very well kept to me...

Leather swapped inc heater switches 156K older couple (he was 69 his wifes car) had car from new in ACT garaged which EO needs full service history how could i resist, i wasnt really after a XR5 but it felt like it dropped into my lap. I drove a blue (great colour) LS XR5 when they were new, enjoyed the drive, didn't like the pre facelift look. True story they replaced her with a i20n, i need a wife like that. I had to have the sunroof and the leather interiors are easy enough to swap in. Old cloth interior which was near perfect found a home in my daughters Mk2 LX. Too many kerbs on the wheels swapped in the later ST wheels with PS4's and i prefer the constrast in the wheel colour. Outside short shift was never going to mod it. It is very quiet though. I wouldn't go EO unless its been and going to garage it and really care for the paint. I still watch the market as i enjoy it and a few retiree type aged cars coming out still.

Anyway i can't lie on this forum, i want, love and enjoy my cars but i have a long history of being unfaithful to them Theres a name for people like me but it's impolite and may be beeped by the forum Unusually i'm having a lot of hesitation bringing her to the point of putting it on the market, but well, not rich.

Yeah they're great cars, but do have their common problems... And yes, EO requires a lot of maintenance and care throughout its life, otherwise the paint will fade and look crap... I personally have a Blue 2007 LS XR5T with the cloth interior, and have owned it for about a year now... It's got about 180,000km and it looks pretty good for its age, but not as clean as yours though, and does have a stage 1, with exhaust, CAI, etc...

One question, how much has the short shifter improved the feel of the gearbox, and is it easy to install?

I do it in every car i buy, OEM Denied have a nice well priced kit easily fitted with a little patience and care by anyone with his fitment video. It's a significant change and it's lovely. Unlikely the underbonnet Mk3 RS fitment it's done inside the car.....

That looks like a very kept example. I bought mine new, i couldnt have went EO as its not me. But EO does look amazing!

And i don't know anyone else who says they miss their car quite as much as you do that lovely XR5 I've had a XR6T too but the 5 has a character which not much matches.

Theres IMO, not much that matches the 5 cylinder turbo for character, my XR6 turbo is bland by comparison, quick but bland!
