Got a $50 parking ticket this evening, and instead of bing ****ed off, I was genuinely surprised. I was sure I had parked legally, I was in a carpark, smack in the center of a carspace. I checked, double checked and triple checked, but there were no signs saying that I could not park there. I even moved my car to check if I had somehow missed a disabled symbol painted on the tarmac. NOTHING?
I then proceeded to open the ticket, and I couldn't read a damn word of it. The carbon coby obviously hadn't worked, as there were just a few faint outlines of letters that I could not make sense of. I don't think I should have to pay for it. Is there anyway to question it's validity without taking the bastards to court? I am fuming... I really have had a bad run of luck lately. First some MoFo hits my car, now this...

Are you sure its yours and hasn't been put ther by someone drunker than you. Write to them up and explain you can read the all the circimstances etc. And you cannot pay it if you don't know how much or what for.

Was it a shopping centre carpark with a timelimit?
Either way I'd take down to the local cop shop to see if it's one of theirs if it's not front up to the (Hornsby?) council for a please explain! Roger.

Thats what I was thinking, but why would that explain it being unreadable?
Does it become invalid if it's unreadable?

No. It was in the trainstation carpark at Hornsby. No time limit.
I'd say it is Councils. Hornsby Council are pretty fuking useless when it comes to these things.

Show the ticket to the people at the council as they can tell you what the go is, if the ticket is unreadable you may not have to pay it, as with speeding fines ALL the details have to be correct.

If you don't pay it in the first 28 days, they send you a reminder. I'd actually take the ticket in and get it scanned. They can tell you exactley who's ticket it is

This is how I got out of mine (I was parked legally, they made a mistake - it happens).
Take several photos of the scene and print them out write a letter explaining where you parked, and that there are no parking limit signs - refer to the photo's to give them a visual idea. Write in all your contact details. Post/deliver or email (I emailed it) this letter to the council (make sure it is the correct council) for their conideration (be very polite in the language and tone of the letter). You should recieve a phone call within 3 weeks from the Manager of Revenue who will apologise profusley and state the inspectors made a mistake. They will tell you that they will ring the IPB and cancel the fine. If this dosn't happen after 3 weeks then forward the same letter on to the IPB (Infringement Processing Bureau), stating you sent it to council on date xx/xx/05, and have recieved no responce.
