can you please keep this thread up or just delete the one in e-series as it's not as active there as it is here. thanks
hey in a week i will be needing a roadworthy... the only thing that will stop it is the muffler hangs a little low and its on super lows (lowest point in the car is the muffler i believe...) at the moment i'm bout to go and buy a seat leaver(broke lol), i just fixed the window squirter thingys, also put in two more screws in the air box, tightened up the guards cause someone only did them up hand tight, can't believe it could hang on that long.... one of the screws won't go in the guard somehow it snapped half way in and i can't put a new one in... so any mechanics would pass this for a $100? the car has never been pulled up in the 2 years ... the reason i need a roadworthy is because it has not yet been in my name ! and my bro is hassling me to do it ... I tried putting a coke can under the muffler it won't go under but i reckon i can get it to clearance when i put some more air in the tyres and take some stuff out of the boot.... I'm going to need a mechanic to come and give me a roadworthy , I can't drive it as i only have my L's (goin for p's in a few weeks :P) and i don't trust anyone to drive it as they thrash the hell out of it, even when i'm in the car.. and i tell 'em not to! I can offer $100, you come to my house in werribee ,,, or I can do a bit more $$$ if it's within reason cause i need to spend the rest of the money else where on the car like getting new "toys" :P here's some pics thanks! |

Your asking a mechanic to put his RWC accreditation as risk for $100?

Umm, I don't think you'll get too many bites. Besides, a mechanic will most likely use their equipment at their workplace to determine whether your car is roadworthy or not.
One such piece of equipment which would be difficult to transport around for "RWC House Calls <tm>" would be a hoist. Also, you'll find most mechanics are time-poor, and wouldn't be interested in travelling around to perform inspections/diagnoses. Book it in at an RWC joint and have them inspect it for you. Don't just say "here's my car, fix what you can and I'll pay you" because, trust me, it won't come to $100. I'm not saying all mechanics are dodgy, but if I had some fool saying to me (loosely translated) "I have money. I wish to hand it over to you", I would be inclined to relieve them of their hard-earnt. And I've been that fool in the past ;) Make sure you state you want a list of everything that's wrong with the car and a quote breakdown. Then organise with mates what can be done yourself (ie, dead headlight globe, save yourself $10 on labour and replace it yourself) whilst leaving more difficult things for a mechanic to do (with respect to the quotes given). -Dave- |

We bought our daughter a Festiva 2 years ago when she was 16, we went to transfer it to her name but could not as she had to be 17, in the end it went into the wifes name. We were told at Vic-Roads, when she was old enough, we could transfer the car to her without a roadworthy as it was within the family.
Don't know if it is still permitted, but worth the phone call to find out. |

Dose the car have rego ????
If it dose and you are in victoria ALL you have to do is go into vic roads with a notice of sale and the transfer papers AND Pay the Change Over Fee.. when they ask you for the road worthy You tell then you dont have it yet .. NOW so long as you PAY the transfer Fees The car is put into your name and you will have around the 3 mths to supply the R.W.C. after that time the rego will be suspended. NOW go ring Vic Roads ask them if you can transfer a car without a R.W.C. and they will tell you if you pay all fees now then you can ... Now for your R.W.C. bring it to me ..$ 66- and i will right you a list of what is wrong ......
