there has been a few people asking about fitting the BOSS motor in various other cars (EAs mostly funnily enough...!) so i was just wondering if anyone has actually done it, or seen a car that has had the transplant done?
i wouldnt be surprised if we see a few bulged show cars doing the rounds soon

Maybe i can fit one into the Focus? Will have to ask about that at PD.
Seriously though, my dream is to get an old 1930's Ford pickup and refit it using BA interior (so ICC and leather etc etc), then put a Barra 220 in there. Id love to do it - just buy a wrecked Ghia or something and swap it all over (with a shitload of custom wiring and modding of course).

Isn't the US Focus a Ford concept. If you're talking about the one I think you are... Ford Focus RS8... RWD with a 318kW 5.0litre "Cammer" DOHC 32v V8.

there was a website about that focus, and it had a parts list and prices to go with it IIRC, so it must be on the market......thats what you call a sleeper!

I think the biggest problem for a realistic buildup is the cost. A Boss engine, ECU, etc. etc. etc. is not a particularly cheap alternative for the power you are getting, and you really would have to have a good reason (and the funds) to choose one.

I saw a Stang 4.6 in the Trading Post and was tempted to get it to whack into an XB, but I'd prefer the Clevo me thinks.
If I had the money I'd probably try get one in the EB. |

I think an interesting hybrid would be a stock BOSS 290 in an AU.
200kg lighter than a BA it would be a fairly quick car. It would also probably become a very hotly debated topic. |

Was done at least twice that i know of during the development of the BA. I have pics of the mules that had them here somewhere, basically its a bitsa AU3 XR8 - silver front bar, rest of the car was red and the bonnet did have a bulge grafted onto it.

Street Machine has quoted prices for XR6T and XR8 engines at wreckers, and they're not cheap, but cheaper than buying a 4.6l import engine from Suburban imports - $8k for those. I can dig up the figures that quoted later.

There were a couple of videos made of a 351C-powered Focus (also blue, RWD) a while back. I can't remember the exact website but it was something like zx351lives.com or something like that (google it ppls!). That Focus is absolutely nutbar!!!
One video just shows it starting up, while the other is a *road test*. -Dave- |
