Default Fairmont front on AU ute?

Hi guys, I only joined this forum a week ago and am really enjoying it so far. Unfortunately had a front end accident last night in my AU2 lpg xl ute. My panelbeater friend who is doing the repair suggested to maybe put a fairmont bonnet/grille on instead of the normal for something different. Just wondering if anyone has done this before and may have a pic or maybe someone has photoshopped this idea. I look forward to your opinions on this. Thanks again for such a great site guys.

Thanks for that, a pic would be great. I think it will be a good way to trick up the old boring fridge white ute.

Yeah but at least you get a decent set of headlights to go with the greatest looking front end ever put on a Falcon.

Thanks guys for your replies. The repairer is going to price out all of the different options tomorrow on the parts. I'm not flushed with cash at present but with insurance paying for a new front set of panels I'd be mad not to chip in some extra to make it unique. It has a set of AU2 tickford 17's on it so I think i will get a rush of blood then and lower it as I have been meaning to for ages. That should finally rid it of it's beginnings as a council ute.

The Fairlane front on the ute reminds me of those people with the old XD-XF series utes that put the corresponding Fairlane front end on, seen a few of them around town.

I reckon an AU Fairlane front on the Ute would look pretty awesome. So would the Fairmont one though.

Hi Guys, took your advice and had the fairmont front put on during the repair and am really happy with the results. Just a few quick pics but I'll get some nice ones over the next week or so. Can't wait now to have the scarred wheels repaired and lower it .

I have seen a black and a blue one done in Sydney ... looked better than I expected.

Just needs the high series bonnet and grille ... along with bonnet latch.

They do look different, a tradie has one on his ute in my area. It was a series 3 fairmont grille and bonnet. You should do it Aulpgute.

definitly different for a ute. i wonder if maybe the fairlane front would be a good look? but i think that would require a bit more engineering as i think the front panels and bonnet are longer arent they? the xd-h utes looked good with the fairlane fronts on them

Looks good but thats not a fairmot grille, its got a Futura grille by the looks of it. The Fairmont one is more like a honeycomb type mesh instead of the horizontal bars.
Either way it, it looks damn sight better than the normal ute front end.

Yep, it's Fairmont bonnet bit and surround, and Forte grille section. But does look good.

Yep, a bit of a hybrid Taiwanese grille. The surround was chrome as well but it looked too cheesy so we painted it white. Not exactly original but tidy and just a bit different and smarter for the old council ute.

I was thinking it looked like one of those chrome jobbies off ebay! Looks good though, well done. Are you going to paint the side strips white too, that'd finish it off a bit more I think...

Looks great. Good to see someone going different to a TS50 or an XR50 front bar. Not many people go the reverse. I like it

definitely do thet mirror caps ... I did it on my ute ... looked a hell of a lot better.

Now I just put my new wheels on ... same as what you have as well.

Just keep doing small things along the way ... that's the way I did things on mine ... and it looks considerable different that what it used to when i first picked it up.
