Hi folks,
Long time lurker, first-time poster.... I'm wondering if anybody can help with any tips or tricks to remove the driver's airbag from a WZ Fiesta (2014 Trend, so the standard steering wheel). I need to replace the cruise control switch assembly, which requires the removal of the airbag & horn assembly first. And before anybody asks, yes, I have disconnected the battery first. According to the WS & WT manual, you need to cut a slot in the back of the steering wheel, as indicated by several lines moulded into that part. On the WZ wheel, there is only one line on each side, which I have cut a slot into. I have tried poking various sized objects into these holes from various angles and can feel something connected to the horn/airbag assembly but cannot get it to release, even after pushing in the horn slightly to relieve pressure. I've taken a look on YT and found a few videos of people doing this on the same model, but it looks like they have different steering wheels fitted, as the holes they use are already moulded into the back of the wheel. The other thing is that all the YT videos I've found indicate there are 3 tabs that need to be released (one on either side plus one at the bottom), but the WS & WT manual doesn't mention the bottom tab and there's nothing moulded into the WZ wheel at the bottom to indicate where a slot should be cut if it is indeed required. . Thanks in advance. |
