I thought if you had the $$$ for those cars, you'd have the cash for the fuel. Guess not!
So have you done anything to the Fiesta then? And yea - this thread is useless for me. First car was the Fiesta for me

The rex I spent all my money on doing it up and then could not afford it and all the audio in the mazda was sponsored as I used to work for a car audio retailer, but when I left I had to give it all back.
I have only lowered the Fiesta at the moment, and I am trying to get a set of ST170 wheels and then I will tint the windows then a pod filter and exhaust. Might even bring in a set of headers from the u.k but not sure yet. I only usually keep cars for about 2 years and change them. The next car I will probably get is euro luxuary like a 3 series BWW or Lexus. I am saving a fair bit now with the new job and hardly any running cost with the Fiesta, so should be able to afford it in a couple of years when I have had enough of the Fiesta., but we will se what happens. |

I started with a Mini, went to a Peugeot 404, then a Datsun Sunny, then to a Mitsubishi Colt. Then I came to Oz, Bought a 120Y (it was cheap), traded up to a XD Falcon, went to a Laser, then a HG Kingswood. not nearly impressive as Festecs list, but had a lot of fun along the way.

My first Car. A rare Beast (Everglade Green and It was colour coded EVERYWHERE, there was no Black plastic moulding), was a Automatic 94 model XG S pack ute handed down from Dad after he bought his AUIII XR6 Ute back in 04. I had an Exhaust, Powerchip and custom cold Air fitted to it before the 4 speed Slushomatic began to bore me. It was quick, and very nice. But Utes don't suit me..
Second car was My EF. 5 Speed manual. Loved it and Hated it. I bought it stock as a rock family 4wd ride height spec, and Spent around $10K in mods Including Pioneer sound, XR8 Bodykit, exhaust, Fairmont side mouldings, 17" ELGT rims, 3.45 LSD conversion and Full EL XR spec induction (More I can't remember). I loved it because if its ability to eat Commodores, and it's sexual looks ( I can't help spending big on cars to make them look good. Its a terrible habit, and it's happening with the Fez). I hated it it because while it was the most immaculate, showroom condition looking thing around (you could even eat off the engine bay), it cost me over $120 a week in fuel, and around $400 per month in general niggling problems that seemed to plague it no end like ECU dramas, Head gaskets, broken fuel pumps, dodgy tappets..... You get the Idea. Ultimately, these continuing problems it led to its sale in early 2005, and the purchase of the Fiesta.... My sick little Fez... |

I don't have a picture but it was a EA (or EB, I don't know) Falcon S, dad bought it second hand back in 91 and gave it to me when I got my P's (for the drive to uni and outings), 2-3 months later I got the Fiesta on finance.

I pretty much have had 4cyl in my time of driving.
1997 Toyota Starlet - Was the car i learnt to drive on. Was the biggest nugget ever especial with 5 people. Yes i had five people. Even with two it would struggle. Was mainly a good run around car. 1990 Ford Laser KF - A hand me down from my brother just before i got my job at Pauls. Wasnt a bad car for the first year, had many adventures in it but towards the end it was starting to die and I needed something more reliable. Now the fez.

1997 Hyundai Excel yes Excel. Got it in 2003... alright car to go from A to B.
So Fiesta is a great upgrade for me.. love every bit of it. Probably the only thing im a bit annoyed at is the side-mirror knob. It's starting to rattle a bit... anyone else experience this? I'd have to tell the service depo. when I take my car in for the 3000kms complementary service. FESTEC, did u read my most recent PM? |

The first vehicle I ever drove was a 1989 Daihatsu Hijet micro-van back in the Philippines. It was the family vehicle (it fit all seven of us comfortably - and we're not small!) It only had a 3-cylinder engine but it accelerated effortlessly and I took it up to 145km/h on the freeway (no bullsh i t) on a regular basis. Gave over 10 years of trouble-free operation.
When I got married in 2002, I drove a secondhand silver 1996 Mitsu Lancer, slightly lowered and with 16" gunmetal alloys. I sold it before I moved to Oz, 2 1/2 years ago. I have a picture of it somewhere on my hard drive. My first car here was a gold 1987 Laser KE Ghia. Bought it for 3 grand and it was a piece of crap. Spent over $1000 fixing the assorted problems that kept cropping up. I pretty much became a pro at diagnosing & fixing its faults. Sold it last year for $500. I would probably have made more if I'd just bought a couple of sledgehammers, parked in some paddock and charged people 5 bucks for three swings at the car. I vowed never to buy a Ford again. Was seriously looking at the Barina, but my wife (bless her) didn't like it. We eventually decided on the Fez and have been laughing ever since.

My first car way back in 1980 was my mums old Austin 1300, back in those days in NZ you used to get a full drivers licence (no learners or P plates in those days) at aged 15, I used to borrow the car all the time, I got my licence just as I turned 15, trouble was I smashed it up a few times so mum made me buy it of her!!, it was bright orange too,.......but boy oh boy did all my mates and I have some fun in that poor car.
Kept the Austin for a little while (until I just about killed it), and then took a loan for a near new Ford Escort 1600 Sport, which in it's day was a pretty damn hot car....a real chicky magnet it was too, great fun, especially when ya only 16 years old,...... after that I went through the Mini stage and bought a standard Mini with an 850cc motor in it in mint condition of a little old lady ("little did she know what I had in store for it"), a mate of mine worked at a Specialist Mini Parts Supplier in NZ and was able to get a hold of all sorts of imported performance parts for Mini's mainly from the UK, I spent an absolute fortune on the Mini, put in a high performance 1300cc motor with all imported race parts in it, changed the suspension, brake components, wheels etc, the car absolutely went like hell.......used to drag off V8 Monaros from the lights no problems at all........unbelievable car....("when it was going that is"),.... because it was so highly strung it used to play up all the time, needed constantly re-tuning etc, used to tear apart engine mounts pretty frequently as well due to the amount of torque it threw out, after a while got tired of the Mini emptying my pay packet every week so got rid of it and got my hands on an imported "Honda Civic ZR" which was a factory built high performance model of which only a handfull came into NZ, my Dad was a Manager at NZ Motor Corporation at the time, they used to import and distribute all the Honda vehicles etc so he was able to get it for me, talk about a head turner!!, I only knew of 1 other one in Auckland at the time, used to really go like stink....loved it....used to give off this beatifull "howling" exhaust note around 3500rpm as well....awesome car! I then came over to Oz and first up got a 1976 Toyota Celica....nothing but trouble, got rid of that and got a 1990 Suzuki Swift Gti....great fun car, went reasonably well although it was only 75kw at 6000rpm, the Fez really reminds me of it. I then bought a new Suzuki Baleno in 2001....great quality car, lovely comfortable interior, quite nice to drive but lacked at the performance end, too much of a nice sensible car really but enjoyed it while I had it, traded that one in on the Zetec Fez which I have had for the last 3 months. |

My list goes something like this, first to last:
Datsun 1200 Toyota Corona Datsun 200B Mini Moke ute Mitsubishi Sigma SE VL Berlina Renault 12 Nissan NX-R Mitsubishi Verada ei Mazda MX-5 Mazda Astina Mercedes C180 Kompressor Mitsubishi Verada xi Fiesta..latest All of these in 21 years of accident free driving. I would have to say that the Fiesta is the most fun to drive out of this lot, with the possible exception of the MX-5. Nah....the Fiesta wins.

My first car was a '91 Nissan Pintara, which was followed for a brief period by an '00 Ford Econovan Maxi which was for work purposes, after said brief period I didn't need it anymore, so I got the Fiesta.

1998 Mitsu mirage !
despite what people say.. they are a fantastic little car. GREAT suspension setup (especially the rear) Its very easy to make them look ugly, but on the other hand, its easy to make them look nice ! Mine was metallic silver, colour coded, 35% tinted windows, some typhoon k&n airfilter (dead set, the car sounded like a type R integra, mirage motor, still the BEST sounding 4 cyl i have EVER heard) had a 2inch highflow cat, and 2inch cat back with some really nice italian brand stainless rear muffler (cant remember the brand :() Nice sparco multispoke alloys, kyb shocks, king superlows ;) Never failed to get good comments.
