Best cam for 302kw falcon

Okay just want some thoughts on some cams to suit my auto AU 5 litre ,from people that are running one or have run them an which offers best mid range while keeping an idle around 1000rpm an what rockers to go with .....I've heard steer away from comp cams

xe270hr from comp cams
a b303 alphabet cam
wade cam
a 2031 cam not sure who makes it

The XE seems to be the hot ticket.

The B cam is rubbish. And there is no need to idle around 1000rpm. My cam is a custom hydraulic roller from FTI and it idles at 800 no problem. I used Comp gold 1.7 rockers. Quality product, no idea why someone has told you to stay away from them.

Thanks for your reply mate yer the XE seems popula but then so is the e cam I'd just like more of an idea before I sign off on it an get one... i like the torque of the cam in the car now but its tooo stock.

E cam is antiquated, the 'Almighty B-cam' is a running joke and not to be taken seriously.

In an otherwise stock engine if you want some lump at idle but still good midrange response look at the Howards 220235-10

Thanks mate I've never heard of them..why do you recomend these .....do there cams really suit our cars? Yer I'm have a look with the Xe270hr cam they want you to use there lifters an have cam kits ...do you have a part no I can look at

Vortex can I suggest stop asking the same Qs in multiple threads in several rooms. There is no need for it, with the car you have run the Comp XE270HR-14 (35-351-8 part #) drop in the Crow 7738-16 springs with 11700-XR8 retainers, a new timing set Crow CS8302EFI, fit Crane roller rockers 44746-16 get it tuned and move on.

Best cam for 302kw falcon

So if I'm reading correct, you have a 220kw AU Falcon, and looking for the best camshaft to get 302kw from your 5.0 Falcon? I'm not aware of any aftermarket camshaft that will give you 302kw from a camshaft change only. When you do find one - please let us know.

Na xxxgI d be happy with 200rwhp i meant a 302ci falcon not 302kw ..i should fix that...
An Bottled up thanks for supplying part numbers etc I just didn't want to buy the wrong thing,that should make it a lot easier to order ,,an hey do we need double valve springs or just new ones when swapping a cam

If you have a 185kw Fairmont auto, then it already should be close to or just slightly over 200rwhp. Which means you're happy with what you have.

Some advice if you willing to take on. If your 5.0 is running perfectly fine, save your money!! If you're trying to get the best out of the 5.0 Windsor in your AU Fairmont just to have a "faster car", SAVE YOUR MONEY. There's no point. Specially when modern 1.6 and 2.0 turbo cars can leave the 5.0 AU for dead off the lights. The AU 5.0 was never a rocket ship to begin with. It's nearing 20 years old now and well past it's "speed racer" days. Sadly, seems most AU 5.0 owners are not.

Get a cam and spring kit from Camtech and leave your YT rockers on.
You'll need a single spring with a damper.

just checked that cam out it says there suited for 1985-1995 ,will that still be ok for 1999 AU?
I'm only doing this for personal preference I've grown up with Subaru imprezas an rx7s all my life an ive always modified my cars to run how I want them too an WSID is only 20 mins away ,so am a late starter on the 5.0 scene...the xe270hr is a great sounding cam il be putting my order in...what rockers will work best with it...thanks

If you will be happy with about 200rwhp just get some 1.72 rockers and a full exhaust or just do 3.9 gears and it will make it feel like it has more than 200hp.
If the cam is larger than factory cam, diff gears and a stall will be needed to make it a decent driver.
That particular cam you are thinking about fitting recommends at least 3.55-3.7 gears,not certain but I think your Fairmont has 3.23?

I was thinking sum rockers an paccies might be enough but thought cam an valve springs would be better again an change th rr's later an yes I'm aware sum other parts may be needed but think its stil worth it..its a short term project...what would give me the most bang for my buck........
upgrading rockers to 1.7 (not pro comp)
Changing the tickford 4 into1 extractors for pacemakers or even stock xr8
Change the stock torque cam for a aftermarket cam

And where's the best place to buy the cam from?
Is it cheaper to get them on eBay from the US or ??
