Smile 5 stud conversion for mk2 escort

thanxs for the info on the other stuff guys. just another question.lol. i found a set of wheels that i think look good on my mk2, the only problem is the wheels are 5 lug not 4 lug. i would like to know what i need to do to convert it to 5 lug. where can i get these things from?

They do hub adaptors and can make any pattern you require. However you may have to use a different offset wheel.

dunno what size rims u were looking at but here is a common 5 stud with big brakes

i just wanna convert the car the car to 5 lug without spending big. would i be able to source the parts needed from the wreckers? if any body has done this using this method what parts do i need primarily just for the conversion. no need for improved braking.

Go talk to your local engineering shop - ask them if they can drill out your existing hubs to the PCD and stud pattern you require. Might cost $50 each for the machine work plus the cost of new wheel studs which you will presumably want to change to 1/2" UNC so you can use standard falcon mags and wheelnuts.

Heres an idea that I am working through at the moment. Use capri frt struts, VJ valaiant hubs (machine the outer of the hub down by 3-4 mm) and then go to your friendly bearing shop. There is a bearing out there that will go over the capri stub and go into the valiant hub. The outer bearing is std escort/capri. Then you slip on a set of Falcon, Jepp cherokee or R32 skyline rotors, bang some new wheel studs in the hubs ( I will use EA falcon as they are long) and then make up an adaptor plate to bolt onto your ford hubs to hold whatever caliper you want. I will use R32 skyline calipers as they are four pots and cheap as chips, also quality pads available off the shelf. Get some braided hoses made up to suit, then fit a 1" bore master cylinder. XA falcon I beleive will go straight onto some ford boosters. A bit of work I know, but if you dont mind searching the wreckers, you can make brakes to make it stand on its nose, without paying sky high prices for it all!

Just an update on my 5 stud brake conversion at moment. Have gone for RX7 series 4/5 calipers as that allows the caliper to slip on easier. Will still need to make up adaptor though. When I have finished, I will post all the info/part numbers used on a new thread. Hopefully it bloody works!
