Default How much would you pay for an EA Brock?

Hello all, just wondering what your thoughts were on the value of an EA Brock Falcon. I know of one for sale and it seems quite expensive for an EA, but then again it is highly modified.
This particular one is white, done 130,000 in very good nick, and they want $8000 for it.
I'm not particularly interested in buying it, but I was curious to know if it was a good price or not.

What is done to it? I wouldnt be paying $8K for an EA unless it was turbocharged.

I know the Brocky's cost a shite load when they came out, but for that sort of money you could buy a slightly modified EA and turbo it!

well guys if there aint anything wrong with it. $8k is a steal... would you believe they still have a market value of $17.5k.....crazy I know but true

If it has the original rims/wheels on it and the guy doesn't know how much they r worth ur laughing as lowest quote I got from the guy who sources all the parts for my EA Brock is $8k for rims in poor condition

Brocks were pretty good cars for their time. However, i couldnt see myself forking out that sort of money for an EA these days...

anyway, heres an ad on car sales
http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2110614&cur rent_rec=24&total_rec=26&sort_type=&keyword=BROCK& state_id=-1&search_distance=25

their is also one in the trading post going for $8.9k (with only 130k on the clock).

Great if you want a unique EA.
It is really only a few minor car park incidents away from being shitty though.
SO 8 to 17k??
You'd have to really want one for collector purposes.
As a daily driver anyone would be better off buying an EB/D and spending up on that.

Just because it isn't to your taste doesn't mean you should put it down. Some people like having different cars and go out of their way to enjoy them. You, on the other hand seem to have no appreciation of owning a rare car. Pull your head in and keep your really stupid comments to yourself.

What the? Did you pop a few angry pills before you wrote that? What's wrong with what he said? It's an EA...even if it is valued at $17k, you'd never get it.

And they said XYGTHO's would not get over $50000 15 years ago, $100000 10 years ago but they make the money.
XAGT and XBGT's used to be give away cars - lets see how many go cheaply now.
What I am saying is that
1. The car is rare
2. Someone will probably pay the money for it because of it's rarity
It does not mean that the person can't enjoy it because of it's status. Not everyone wants to have a worked car - some people like having different cars as I stated before.
Comment like "It is really only a few minor car park incidents away from being shitty though." were not really valid - that applies to ALL cars.

I can PM anyone the details if they want, the car is in Frankston. The guy is serious about selling it, so he is negotiable.
It's got Simmons rims, are they original? The only other things that may have been changed is that it has a cd player and tinted windows.
I still think that $8k is a lot for an EA, even if it has been modified...

Does it have brock plates, or custom plates for that matter? I remember seeing a brock EA near JB Hi-Fi about 2 months ago. If this is the one I would steer clear of it, I remember thinking to myself that it was in pretty bad condition. I hope I am wrong about the car though.

I saw this thread yesterday and thought to myself that there couldn't be such a thing. Well, I was wrong. And yeah, does seem pretty steep.

Not as bad though as a BA XR8 Supercharged Ute that I saw in the Trading Post. This guy wants $85,000 for it.

After driving an ED I'd rather put the money in to a ED XR6 than a Brock EA. The ED's are just so much better than an EA in every way. If you bought a 5 speed ED XR6 for like $10k in top nick and spent a further $7k making it go fast and look better, you'd have a very sweet car!

It's ALLLLLLLLL about opinions Shane.
I speak for myself, call it as i see it.

I do appreciate fine cars, as in your FBT, I would happily pay a lot for one of them knowing they are rare, unique & classy (and originally a $70,000 car)

I saw a FBT for 17k last year.. I know that's an absolute bargain.

I would rather pay 17k for a FBT than say, 10 k for an NF/NL fairlane and then spend 7 k on mods.

But the same WOULD NOT apply for the brock EA as the car you get TO ME doesn't justify the original outlay.

For OTHERS it would be justified and they will post accordingly and for 1 lucky soul, they will purchase it, all the best to them.

Saying I have no appreciation for owning a rare car and "keep my really stupid comments to myself" is just as stupid as my opinion on the brock EA.

This is a forum. Stupid comments go hand in hand with superior comments like all of yours buddy.

No harm done.:

and? :P
a cars value is not solely based on its performance.
'they'll become rare and good condition ones will be worth a bit, not as much as an older GT, but still more then ur common modified EA-ED :o

maybe not but 9/10 people buy "performance" cars due to their "performance"
maybe 15 years ago high 15sec qtr mile times were good but whats the point in buying an 8-15grand ea who cares if its rare its s**t and will get flogged by an ed xr6 anyway ???????????????

No use speculating what its going to be worth 20 years down the track, but if you think its justified to spend $8-10k on a 15y/o car (in today’s used car market, which will be on the brink of saturation in a few years) for an investment for your future, then I wish you luck.

As for comparing a Brock EA to a XAGT :
20 years ago XAGT auto's and XBGT's were not worth much more than a standard Falcon as they were considered poor cousins to the XYGT's.
XR and XT GT's could be had for next to nothing as they didn't offer the performance of the phase 2 and 3's.
The Brock EA is not a performance car but it is a piece of motoring history - much the same a Peter Wherret special Turbo Sigma's and Allan Moffat supercharged Falcons. The "John Goss special" coupes offer no performance value over the standard XB Falcon coupe but they too are considered a collectors item.
I have had my say and will not say any more. Enough is enough.
Shane
