Serious question... What is wrong with people!
I've just read that a woman in Ipswich has been to all the Coles, Woolworths and our Costco just to replenish the family toilet paper... But they have been sold out! Costco opened early this morning 9.50am and their entire stock was sold out in 10mins! People suddenly thinking that the Coronavirus is the beginning of Doomsday... What is wrong with people! I'm down to 3-4 rolls, so I'd better travel to Brisbane for a pack of 12...

I wonder if convenience stores still have stock, mini marts, 7-11, servos and milk bars etc. Rather pay double $ than drive, park and search all the bigger stores.

Is driven by the media advising of likely shortages in the case of a pandemic. BTW I think you mean "Hoarding" as "Hording" is defined as forming or gathering in a large moving group and I don't think we have hords of toilet paper descending up us yet; but who knows perhaps that going to be the next apocalyptical event. :-) Sorry; I know what you meant and don't mean to be a spelling Nazi but I couldn't resist that one as I now can't get image of hords of toilet paper rolls out of my head; something like the Windows flying toaster screensaver.

I shop for this item as required; it had come due for replenishment. Took three shops to find a packet. As I watched, an entire pallet was picked off. This was at 8:20 today. As I left Woolies, I could see people lining up for the yet-to-open Aldi.
The lack of budget priced (89¢) penne is more concerning to me. It’s taken pasta salad off the shelves. |

I used to find the Southern Chinese custom of washing your heat treated and vacuum sealed crockery and cutlery in lukewarm tea to protect from a possible SARS* outbreak hilarious... But now... According to our actions, maybe they have a point.

I'm so glad I look up the news I wish to read instead of being force fed the rubbish peddled by the networks.

Been staying on my block of land offgrid last 4 days, rolled into Wang Monday morning and saw on a newspaper headline," Victorians urged to buy 2 week worth of food"
I thought to myself this doesn't sound good. So checked out Coles, Aldi's and Woolworths where everyone is in a panic. probably all locked up at home, self isolated by now. Fast forward to today and all of the stores have already restocked over night and trading to normal shoppers. Hopefully these mad panic buyers have locked themselves in for 2-3 weeks and don't realise stuffs available. It helps with the states major logic centre being at Barnawatha just up the road. local butchers and greengrocers have been trading with plenty of stock over the whole time I've been told. Oh well time to start picking at the quarry and get started on the next big job.

So what is the racket? Are people actually succeeding in unloading stock on the grey market?
Or is it a an exponential development of the daigou situation, and all our everyday stuff is heading overseas in consolidated freight? |

Last week I was driving to go shopping and they were talking about people possibly starting to buy up all the staples, including dunny paper.
Got my usual shopping, including 3x12 pack loo paper (the shelves were all full) and thought nothing of it. Went out today and both Coles and Woolies stripped bare. I think the best option is for people to get in as much online shopping for it across all the stores in the hope one order comes through. I'm good for a month or 2... It's sad to hear of families that just buy enough to get them through a week being down to their last roll with little hope of getting more. Let's hope the ramped up production catches up with the public demand. Sent from my LG-M700 using Tapatalk

I was listening to the radio today as you tend to do in the car, and as per usual with all the media hype, toilet paper was a topic on the news. Some anus expert came on and his reasons for all the panic were people paranoid theyd get the virus and have to go into self isolation, people thinking we import rolls from china, people sending rolls overseas, and simply others jumping on the band wagon.
One of the old blokes i work with sent me a photo today being a smart alec. He maintains 2 buildings that are attached, so a combined 104 floors. He took a photo of the toilet paper store room which is huge and packed, captioned he thinks he has enough. Being 104 floors, the huge room only lasts 2 weeks between restocks, but only a few days when there are gastro outbreaks. |

That limit will do nothing but give a false sense of belief.
Does anyone remember the baby formula restrictions? 2 cans at a time? The would walk in as an army squadron and all grab 2 cans each, then walk out to the boot unload and then rinse and repeat until the shelves were bare, then move onto the next supermarket. |
