ABOUT TIME!!!
This is the stuff I want to see Ford doing with Falcon, getting good media about Falcon out there... Well done!! Instead of dodging questions about its future, they have come out swinging & mading it front & centre!! |

Can't say I got anything out of that.
Somebody here could probably come up with a decent mock-up by taking the current FG Falcon and adding the Aston Martin-style grille that is now part of Ford's "design language". |

Before buying the FGX XR8, I toyed with buying a Porsche 2 door, but my work requires me to sometimes travel with a large amount of files, clothing for a week, computers, printers, laptops, and I remember struggling packing this stuff in a Honda Euro for a 1 month Inquest in Sydney.
Today, I packed my office into the XR8, and drove from Newcastle to Coffs Harbour. Stuffed the rear with files and legal gumph for 2 cases, back seat-printer, laptops, all office gear, 2 boxes paper for printer, 3 toners, 1 drum, etc etc. Try getting this stuff in the back seat of a mustang or a 911- ha ha. I remember the printer being a problem with the Honda Euro-very narrow back door. Could not believe how the Falcon ate all my crap, space to spare. Then drove to Coffs Harbour, speeds, 100kph, 80 kph, and 110kph, and I factored in speedo underreading and a uhm variance -you get my drift-as well as some uhm spirited blasts of some 4/5, and the fuel consumption was 9.6, drove around Coffs before taking the fuel consumption shot above. Not bad for a heavily loaded dinosaur putting out some 500 hp... Great car this Falcon......

Do you REALLY expect Ford to make the teaser really clear and obvious 2 years out from release? No! That would only date it by the time it got to launch, which means lost sales! It really does seem that no matter what Ford does, it's never enough, short of releasing a new model every month. And then they'd get owners off-side by ruining resale even more...
Just be glad they've even acknowledged it, and didn't brush it under the carpet. And if I were a gambling man, I wouldn't be putting my money on this just being any old boring facelift. |

Unbeleivable. I suggest some of you go read the Carpoint article about it.

If it looks anything like the upcoming Mondeo it should look sweet.

As far as I can see the teaser serves three purposes:
1) To assure the general public that Falcon is staying. 2) To stick it up a couple of anti ford journos who have been making assumptions. 3) To really really REALLY upset a small group of trolls on some internet forum somewhere......... |

I don't want to be a wet blanket. But I was hoping for different looks between Falcon and Mustang. I don't really want it to become just a 4 door Mustang. I think that will detract from it's uniqueness. But if it stays Aussie, and RWD... then I can live with it.. or learn to.

I said it when it was revealed and I'll say it again, FG X makes FG(I and II) look very old hat. Just a pity Ford had no $$ to do some upgrades to the interior.

Trust me, you aren't the only person to say that it makes the current Falcon look dated, because it does!

The new Falcon has the "worldwide" Ford look about it. Perhaps the new model looks better in the flesh. It would need to |

I'm wondering why Ford would make upgrades to the interior, to the same extent as Holden did with their VF. The big difference is Holden just had to modernise from the terrible VE interior design, but the 6 year old basic design of the FG interior is very functional and still appealing, and would have been hardly worthwhile for major changes to be done just for a couple of years production. Especially considering the numbers that will be built.

Does anyone know if the EcoLpi models of the FG X have had a re design so they have the same boot space as the petrol engines?
