When I saw the thread title, I thought RogerCordia was back.
But his thread title would have said "My car IS a muscle car." In my opinion, a Muscle Car is more of a performance orientated car. Just like a BA V8 Fairlane isn't a Muscle Car IMO

Not in my opinion. Muscle cars are/were factory rockets that were usually born for racing in some capacity. Whilst yours fits the bill for cubes & era, it's about as racey as a school bus. Nice classic/cruiser though.

An American definition which I subscribe to:- "A muscle car is an intermediate sized, performance oriented model, powered by a large V8 engine, at an affordable price. Most of these models were based on "regular" production vehicles."
I know the Charger fans will disagree... So Dave289, you do have a sweet ride with the LTD, but with all due respect I don't think it's a muscle car.

Maybe if you slapped a warm 460ci under the bonnet then it would be a muscle car.
Nice muscular cruiser though.

Nah, luxo-barge/cruiser for sure. Don't let that worry you though, doesn't mean F-all at the end of the day, it's just a label.

It would be a muscle car if say... the 351 had a 6/71 sitting on top and was putting down over 500 at the treads. If that's not muscle, then nothing is.
As it is, just old cool cruiser thing. No less cool, just different sort of cool.

Nah Luxo-Barge/Cruiser/Australian Rolls Royce
Cant just call a p6 a Muscle car. It is my contentition that it must be sporty and preferably two door. Whilst it has 351, 9" whatever the car was bought and drvem by rich farmers/politicians and limo companies. Still absoutely love it though

I agree it isn't a "muscle car" as such in standard form. Definitely a "tuff cruiser". However, as has been said, if you could get some serious mumbo happening in the engine dept. it could certainly be turned into a "muscle car". Weight isn't the issue - but IMO unless it can run sub 15s it isn't in the "muscle car" class. Now before everyone blows me away with how many rice burners can run sub 15s etc etc ... we ARE talking bent iron here, not turbos or rotaries etc. So, to sum it up a "muscle car" to me is something with a bent eight up front driving the rear wheels and running sub 15s.

P6 is better than a muscle car anyway, there is insufficient leg room for your hoes in a coupe.

Just my opinion but the early GTs may have been the beginning of what is called the Muscle Car era in Australia but substantially, except for the HOs, they didn't really offer any performance advantage over an optioned up Falcon 500 or Fairmont (or even Fairlane) of the same model. |

tuff cruiser . but don't worry about it, the term 'muscle car ' is thrown around so much these days by people who have never even sat in one that it is hard to decide what a real muscle car is. it could be a muscle car or a street machine. it's only limited by your imagination and bank balance. cheers.

Yeap agreeing they are a cruiser, even with things coming out the bonnet, big wheels & a quick 1/4 mile. Just too big, nice and comfy.
Where would the cut off be, ZF/G Fairlane can be turned into one (as in FC's link) or were they from factory with a 351? What about Landau's or even P5's? | [/url] |

You can make a "musclecar" out of any old vehicle i guess... but id tend to call them "streetmachines", not musclecars..
My definition of a TRUE "musclecar" is a factory produced "hotrod" i.e in Australia that's anything with a V8 (ok maybe 1 or 2 of the 6's may qualify by default) that was produced to compete at Bathurst! GT, GTHO, GTS, A9X etc..

Yeah it's not really a muscle car, but jesus christ that's clean.
"Sports car" gets thrown around alot aswell. IMO don't worry about what your car is classed. Enjoy it for what it is mate. Not what catergory it falls under. I also agree that the XR GT is that grandfather of Aussie muscle cars. |

P6 = cruiser, definatly not a muscle car. But agreed with Barry above, you NEED the wheelbase for carting "stock" to "clients"
