How does anyone know how to access the gas struts mounting lug behind the rear seats I had two new fitted one has jumped off I thing the retaining clip has come adrift the boot is now back to hitting you on the head it not careful

You need to remove the rear seat's side bolster. From memory it's attached with a bolt at the bottom, somewhere under the side of the seat.

Thanks for your reply I will have a look over the week end not the easiest of vehicles to fit boot gas struts still thanks again

No worries! Those boot lids are heavier than you think hey. Might help to have someone hold the boot for you to get it on.

I have replaced the boot struts in our NF Fairlane today, first remove the rear seat from the floor this gives access to the bottom bolt on the bolsters on each outer side of seat back. fold the seats down, on the striker pin of each seat latch is a round plastic trim washer, this washer has a square hole in it, rotate the trim washer to align with the square section on the striker pin and pull it off. The bolsters lift up and they are off. This gives easy access to ball end of the boot struts. Hope this helps.
