TR 3550 conversion can be done for around $4K. TKO's are up around $5K. T56's around $8K.

First off... try and find a full manual conversion to suit a 5.0... I've been keeping an eye out, and they rarely come up...

I wouldn't be suprised if it costs me $2k to convert...

Niko. Do you have a problem with me? All your recent posts seem to be poking crap at my car. Sorry that I can't afford a Merc or anything special, but just cut the crap. It's my car, and I do like it (when it works properly), so just ******* cut it out.

niko .. they have stronger internals, different input shaft, and different bellhousing.

They are rare, and cost more. $1 - 2k for a second hand unit, depending on km's, is correct.

Do you still own an e-series niko? Hanging round for fun?

exactly right dezza.

And from my experience with my EA T5, there is absolutely no difference in quality with the EA boxes. They are just as strong, and has held up to my 140rwkw..

So don't bag people niko.

Nah, you heard that I bought a car with a busted 2nd gear synchro after the car was obviously abused or had a problem with the gear/synchro before i got it.

a) i never said anything about them being strong
b) i said EA T5's aren't as weak as everyone says they are
c) i don't know why you picked my post to pull apart and be stupid with, but whatever floats your boat.

You have to remember that everything V8 related is going to be more expensive... There were far more I6's made than the V8's, so even finding a good V8 Box is hard...

Compare the cost of a new V8 BTR, to that of a manual... I know when my BTR dies, i'll be hunting out a T5

The fun factor is a good incentive also :P
