Unhappy BA Stereo

hay guys my bro has a 05 XR6 Turbo ute, someone has told him that you cant take the factory cd player out or the car wont start, can anyone conferm this for us please...

I would say yes, from memory I remember someone saying the ECU is integrated into the stereo, thats why guys that install aftermarket ones, put them in the tissue box down below. hope it answers your question
