Default Drive thru - the good, bad and ugly

Drive thru service from the various fast food chains is certainly a good idea, but some do it good, bad and some are ugly. Post up your experiences and ratings

McDonalds: Have you noticed that almost Everytime you use their drive thru, they send you off into their waiting bay? Leave you chugging away wasting your petrol. They used to have 3 windows, order, pay, collect.. Now its one person talking your order, then you drive round and have to listen to them taking the persons order behind you, whilst they are taking your payment. Then straight to collect. But when your at the collect window they give you half your order and say wait in the waiting bay? Count the times they send you to the waiting bay, almost 100%. I queried them a few times as there was no car behind me? The maccas employes at the window said I would destroy their stats if I wait there instead of the waiting bay? But no one is behind me I protested!! They are just chaotic and look like they don't know what they are doing, with people whacking into each other and buzzers and beeps going off everywhere, asking who's order is who's etc..

Maccas Rating: Terrible, just terrible.

KFC: They serve the person in front of them which is better than maccas, but they will always forget the cutlery/napkins.. Always check your order at KFC.

KFC Rating: good but just tell them to put napkins in the bag as they didn't the first time

Hungry jacks: a bit of a wait but they seem to deliver. No issues, they serve the person in front of them and if anything overstock the bag with napkins etc

Hungry jack rating: great

Red rooster: A bit slow throught the drive through but again they serve the person in front of them, most important, deliver up what they need to do and your on your way.

Red rooster rating: great

Oporto: Similar to hungry jack and red rooster, good service by attending to the person in front of them.

Oporto rating: great.

Well its non automotive chat? Is this the right place to post?

Just raise awareness of the drop in service levels or in some cases increase in customer satisfaction. Nothing to do with the food served up, its the drive thru service/process!!

I haven't had Maccas in at least 3 years, HJ's in even longer. As far as I know, their burgers are cooked to order so they are fresh. Isn't that a good enough reason for waiting? If you don't like it, turn the car off or walk inside and order at the counter. No one forces you to use a drive thru.

Failing that, make a sandwich or get some fresh stuff from the supermarket, your body will thank you. Trust me

im not opposed to waiting, but its a bit of courtesy to serve the person that is in line first, then worry about the customer behind. Then if its a drive through then why not serve the person at the window instead of making everyone park in the carpark, then send some young 15 year old with a bag of food out in the carpark with no idea whos food it is, asking every second car if they ordered a big mac meal with a sprite for the drink? They even send you to the waiting bay when noone is behind you??? Just chaos in that joint.

if they just serve the person at the window completely they wouldnt have to run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Its also a OH&S issue sending those kids out in the carpark with hot food and approaching strangers cars.

if people wanted to park they would park and walk in. Whats the point of using the drive thru?

Oportos cook to order but give you the courtesy of serving you at the window.

Starbucks have drive thru, they make your coffee as your at the window not send 100% of their customers out in the carpark

If they can't deliver on a proper drive thru service don't offer it.

Dominos pizza do not do drive thru because their product (cooked to order) cannot be made in a reasonable time frame for a drive through.

It's a new chain of grilled chicken places, like Nandos.
They've recently opened one on Canning Hwy where the Maccas used to be in South Perth.

Did you know that at this point in the thread your browser has had to render 175065 bytes of data that it has downloaded from the AFF server, including cache.

Seems kind of like a waste of good data doesn't it.

I avoid drive-thrus full stop.
No way am I risking scratching my rims on those stupidly tight bends and high curbs.
I did go thru one on my push-bike once.

F6 Benito you seem to want to know peoples opinion about almost anything.

You've got multiple threads/going at the moment asking opinions: highest kms, fastfood, 162000 kms too much?

Not too sure why though

The beauty of it is that I have a few hundred threads backlogged waiting for a run. Then there is the recycled threads from years past coming up for renewal.

yes I drive traffic to the site... as they say "milkshake brings all the fords to the yard"

just dont let these food chains dish up poor service with their soggy fries

How about you walk in to one of the many family owned fast food shops who serve up something similar in most cases better quality .

Meanwhile in Ukraine.

It can depend on what you order. Do you customise your orders at all?

And dont forget that Macca`s probably have more customers in the Drive-thru than all the others combined, and them some.
