Well, the sig an avatar says it all, I put down a deposit on a 1996 NF2 Fairlane Ghia V8 today... hopefully I'll be able to pick it up early next week
Stock as a rock, except for a redback straight through exhaust, its been looked after all its life, and all it needs is a good detail untill its schmick! Can't wait to hit the black spur again, and GOR, hopefully by then I would have at least fixed a few little things that I dont like, such as the tiny exhaust tip, total lack of window tint and the holes in the T-bar panel from a car phone kit... Pointless thread i know (needs a poll of some kind... :P) but im proud dammit! Here is a few pics I'll try not to burn this one..... :P

Thanks guys... Needs a bit of work in my opinion. Anyone who saw my old fairlane would know Im fussy.
It needs a real good polish, and the engine bay needs to be tidied up a bit. There is also a severe lack of woodgrain on the insides :P Only 19 and onto my 3rd e-series... :P I'll try and hang onto this one for a while

I have plan for it... it'll remain stock for a while until I get my hands on explorer, gt40p's, crane 2030 and pacemakers... its just a cruiser afterall... I'll drop it a little bit and get some ELGT's (I've always thought they suited the LWB better) should keep me happy... maybe...

I'll be buying an extinguisher for it... just in case... im a little paranoid these days :
And if i can keep up on the spur in a stock ED, the NF should be a walk in the park

that aside, it'd sound a hell of a lot nicer, and be more comfortable by a mile you could also get a tune for it, once you've whacked in your extras.

And as I found on the test drive, it handles better, accelerates and stops better than the ED as well. Either way, it'll be fun.

Nice car. The NF/NL Fairlanes are still some of the best looking cars around.

yeah, outright power is over-rated... only dyno queens should care about that.
Power is a by product of torque anyway. This is the dyno simulation of the engine i was going to build for the NC... pretty similar to what I plan to do with this. The simulation is based on HO intake and E7 heads, so the AU gear should help a fair bit. 300HP and a ton of torque isn't anything to laugh at.

What i was refering to when I said the NF was quicker was the seat-of-the-pants-o-meter :P
More than likely the ED is quicker, but the NF feels quicker. It is far more responsive than the ED, as the ED still runs a clutch fan and the ED has a 3.08:1 diff versus the NF's 3.23:1 diff. Only minor things, but it transforms the car's feel. And in my opinion the 5.0 has far more potential than the 4.0 in terms of modifications to wake them up. (When keeping both N/A) Maybe your NF was beaten by 6cyl ED's as your NF is also a 6cyl... you didn't specify that :P Either way, there is more to a car than straight line performance. EDIT - While I'm here, I'll also say that I'll be picking it up on monday night

Well guys, I picked her up on monday night and have been dying for this weekend so I could give it a good detail and take some proper photos to show you all.
Im still not 100% happy with the engine bay, I want to strip the engine cover back and paint it will clear coat like I did to my old one. And the intake pipes need to be painted gloss black. The interior is lacking in woodgrain, so hopefully it'll cop some LTD woodgrain and an ELGT wheel soon. The exhaust tip will be redone in a few weeks, I reckon twin 3" rolled pipes would fill the void nicely But for now, i'll just drive the thing :P
