Sometimes I can hear their cries over the sound of my turbo spooling

It’s good to have some vehicular pride though, when someone is happy with their car and think it’s the best. Just as many people lose their load over the I6T’s like this guy below.

And let’s not forget, the most powerful Aussie car ever made was LS powered! |

LS's seem to end up in all sorts of odd cars.
Thinking it might be best to encourage, rather than discourage people doing this; as it can potentially save Barra turbos from being unceremoniously separated from Falcons. |

LS's are the simple mans V8, anyone can change cams in their driveway or buy a tune off ebay for $250 and they come out in cars much lighter than our heavy Falcons
i must admit i jumped on the LS bandwagon and bought a VZ Adventra, a tune and exhaust and she puts down 6.0s 0-100 which is great for a tank it may not be Aurion speed but those little Golf GTi's have no idea what hit them when a family station wagon with roof racks goes flying by them (i work near a VW dealer and GTi's are everywhere, all trying to race everyone) i'll still take my old 5.4 anyday though

My first LS was back in 2000, an ex-chaser 1999 VTII and it was a revelation.
I traded in my VK 134 pack with a 331 stroker for it. I couldn't believe how quick the LS1 was, maybe not so impressive today but I was thrilled back then. Nobody would overtake me in it as everyone thought I was an unmarked cop car - white sedan with the FE2 suspension and 15 inch steel chasers. True story: I left a mates house shortly after buying it and booted it down his street, I went past a side street at well over the speed limit right as a paddy wagon had pulled up to the intersection, I looked over as I went speeding past and he waved at me so I stuck my hand out the window and waved back - that was the closest I ever came to being an undercover cop..... |

Not sure about that to be honest . Taking into account the Barra surfaced (thankfully) in 2002 until 2016 plenty were built and expect to see many, many of both turbo and N/A 's around , modded and stock for a decent time yet . Especially on the back of the reliability factor as much as anything.

“LS” is like Barry Manilow singing AC/DC whilst wearing a safari suit. Right tune, wrong packaging

From what I’ve seen on the road, the BA seems to be quite rare these days, not rare rare, but rare for what it once was. Often with P plates on them too. In 10-15 years time I don’t think Barras will be too commonplace on the streets. |

The question is, why can’t we enjoy them both? Must the LS engine be an enemy to the Barra, coyote or Miami?

I’ve got a mate doing a nice HQ Monaro resto, even he can’t put an LS into it, he’s pulling his race engine and detuning that and building a LS for his race car. That kind of sums it up to me, LS is cheap power but that’s about it. I still think he should fit a Barra |

The whole #LSTHEWORLD thing seems to be very popular, people are pretty much putting LS engines into anything... makes sense though, cheap, easy, light, compact and they make good power

The LS is a great engine...anybody who can remove the "blinkers" and their own prejudices for 5 seconds can see that...unfortunately...that's far and away from the world we live in!
The LS is probably one of the lightest most compact engines per litre out there that's readily available to the average guy AND offers a HUGE array of aftermarket possibilities not to mention it's a cheap starting point! If I were a smart man not worried what others think then it's definitely my engine of choice...but alas..I'm just like most other car guys caught up in what is socially acceptable in the car scene and my own shallow prejudices lol. But in an alternate world where my XA Hardtop was still only worth loose change then the LS would definitely be a go, instead I've got to go and drop the best part of 25 grand on an engine that may come close to what the LS offers with the exception of personality lol. As for Barra's... I already have two in the drive so I don't need another even though they're a great engine also |
