On a recent trip to Bundaberg this Hyundai Sonata 2 litre Turbo Police car was on display at the Rum City Rods Car Show. I spoke with the officer attending and asked if it was being evaluated and he said no it already has been and they are rolling out now. He said they are being used as the standard Station car and HWP ... make of that what you will?
My guess is they will be replacing Camrys since Toyota Australia is no longer manufacturing. Last edited by Pedro; 17-10-2017 at 02:38 PM. Reason: change pics |

Imagine just completing your training to be a highway patrol officer and you get handed the keys to a Hyundai Sonata!
I think I'd quit. |

I like it for HWP.
Still might get booked but at least I'll be able to sneer at them...

What would they care? Company car. No better or worse than driving a XT Falcon or Omega Commodore.

I have general duties cops who come through my work. From what I hear there's a race each shift for the Camry keys. The slow ones get to drive the Hyundais. But as you say, I'm sure they don't care...

wow, that is a first, racing to get the Camry keys?? I'd purposely misplace the Camry keys so I wouldnt have the misfortune of driving such an inadequate vehicle around...

Being in Qld, the bean counters for sure, have to balance out that budget so they can buy more cameras....these new gen cop cars might be slow compared to their past rides but the unfortunate (or fortunate?) thing is nothing beats a radio.
