Hilux just pipped Ranger for 1st place. Ford in 3rd place overall. Everest moves to no 1 in it's segment, outselling the Prado for the first time ever.

You can't knock that under whelmed old model Thai Hilux down, they do good business period you can't deny it.
Supply always the issue, Hilux 17k year to date sales ahead.
Overall good for Ford with the Everest.
Mazda, some saying its on the nose Nov up 42% overall sales, I guess alot of shipments landed.

It's going to be a real fight for No 1 overall next year. Ford just lost way too much ground in the middle part of the year getting new Ranger into showrooms, and some semi-conductor shortages in the first half. That should be behind them now, so it should be a straight fight.

Look I hear you but there is no real straight fight unless both on new platforms.
We all know Ranger is/was supply delays, they had the same for a mo then got a bucket load hence Ranger getting no1 back then.
Timing, its all in the timing for the EOM vFacts figures.
They have been doing revamps on the current gen new Rogue's coming but I want to see the next new Gen, then it will be a true fight and depending they bring out a V6 as well.
Anyway good on them and Ford, having good competition is good for consumers pushing to the OE's to up the anti's especially in this vibrant segment.

The key factor fromt he report is sales is up 17% overall compared to last Nov, more deliveries and should be ongoing from here on.
For those general public bang for buck buys MG Haval in top10.

Hilux has been outgunned by rivals for years... PX ranger for the longest, new Dmax/BT50's are a better thing as well.... What Toyota does have is rusted on buyers, those who just buy a Hilux, nothing else gets a look in, ever X years and either dont know, or dont care that its competitors are better... its the same for 79 series cruisers.....

As for the results, great to see Everest hitting goals, it deserves to outsell Prado, again another old tech POS from Toyota.. Great news.

And Ranger? Well yes Hilux pipped them, but only because of the 4x2 market which as we all know, and its been discussed at length, they dont put any sort of effort into. In the 4x4 sales, they are beating the lot.. And thats where they are putting all the effort.. makes sense....

B D that’s the thing…it’s fairly inaccurate how they report for it should be broken down by types etc but no matter we find out the guts in time.
As for the hilux it no matter the others are better etc the business owner the mining or abn holder keeps buying - they do good deals for them I guess and kudos to them as mentioned with a old platform to the obvious leader at present.
I think when you can sell a inferior product got to give it to them as mentioned.
The rest is immaterial.

Went into Toyota yard this month and was underwhelmed by the cars' interiors, they seemed outclassed by what compared with. I know, I know: they have better close tolerances/resale/build quality/consistent ergonomics etc etc

Their cars are actually have very bland in the interiors, but what would we know, the things sell like hotcakes.

So is the Hilux. But they keep shipping them out the door. But these orders they are filling now would have been from months before new Ranger release. Will be interesting to know what their order books have been doing in the last few months. Going backwards? Or not.

Ranger order book continues to get larger.

Prado also loses it's 5 star safety rating from Jan 1. That will cost it as well.

I think Rangers issue is supply, otherwise they would ‘cream’ Toyota. They did outsell Hi-Lux in the 4x4 segment, bit of a consolation.

Lol, these monthly sales threads should be in the jokes section.
Any month Ranger tops the charts, Rangers killing it, drop down a spot, supply constraints.
Any month Hilux tops the charts, back orders, drop down a spot, no one wants that outdated lemon.
Everest tops its segment, Everest killing it, Prado drops a few spots, no one wants that outdated lemon.

Any chance last month was Ford catching up on Ranger orders and this month is back to business as usual with an emphasis on Everest orders which will also revert to business as usual in December considering next gen Everest followed Ranger to market by a month, would certainly make sense.

Any chance someone that normally bags (I won’t say trolls) Ranger or Ford Sales is posting in the VFacts thread ?

I wonder.

And yet, you keep reading and commenting on these threads. If it annoys you that much, perhaps don't bother following the link.

The sales race is now predominantly a vessel race on who can deliver the most pre-sold each month. In saying that, Ford would have a fair bit of unsold "on the ground" stock to help boost their numbers. 2023 will be interesting that's for sure.

The headline of that article made me chortle:

Yay it beat sales of two cars twenty years ago, that haven't been on sale for 5+ years

It actually is quite notable. A single model eclipsing 60k sales in the calendar year. As mentioned, a feat not seen for over 20 years.

With such segmentation in the market, it's a pretty amazing achievement.

Not comparable - no tax advantages back then for Thailand Specials though incentivizing their purchase, asset write-off incentives et al.

They had tariffs though. They should never have been lowered to the levels they were.

Just noticed that Tesla Y is back to around 1,800 sales and almost completely displacing the 3 (~300 sales)

Why the comparison of Everest with Prado? The Fortuner is the equivalent to Everest.

Because Ford Fans. I agree the class is Fortuner/Pajero Sport/Everest.

The MUX is perhaps the closet to a Prado but even then its based off a Ute. If budget wasnt an issue it would be Prado all day long, the extra size is worth it if your doing bulk driving with a tribe.

Prado is not any bigger? they are all the same class perhaps Fortuner/Pajero being a bit smaller, But Ford couldn't care less about them and Everest was built as a Prado competitor. perhaps it was lacking in the top end feature Kakadu had but now it has feature Prado doesnt.

If you go by Vfacts, Everests ‘natural’ competition is Prado, so where does Fortuna sit?

No, not around price, but the vehicle itself. The Fortuner is based on the Hilux, as is the Everest is based on the Ranger. The Prado is a Landcruiser, isn't it?

The Badge?
The landcruiser badge it wears bears no resemblance to the other landcruisers Toyota sells. 70 series & 300 series are also very different but wear tat badge

Maybe you need to check them out.

Is Toyota still selling the Fortuner, do we know what last months figures were please?
Always found it strange that Toyota sold two similar mid sized SUVs in our market.
