Default Engine Problem

Hey guys,

So yesterday I was driving home from a camping trip when all of a sudden my engine starts making this horrible grinding noise, it sounded like a thick peice of wire was dragging along the road under my car but upon stopping it continued as the engine idled.

It sounded like it was coming from the exhaust side of the engine, maybe even lower down to where the exhaust pipe attaches to the underbody, although the noise was to loud to really pinpoint it. A mate of mine said it could be the baffle plates rattling around?

Anyway, I finally drove it home without the sound getting too much worse, however this morning I go to start it to have a little bit of a trouble shoot and it won't start... I'm not all that surprised, it sounded pretty horrible.

All there is is the sound of the starter motor like, releasing, and making that winding down noise...

Just wondering if anyone could pass on any advice at all.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tim,
I'd be checking the starter as well, and run a test on it. Bendix mighgt have stuck in after starting.
Cheers,
Les
