I was just reading an interesting thread (not here somewhere else ) about the Winternationals have KPH instead of MPH on their display boards. So what does everyone think of the change, should we be going to KPH or sticking with MPH in line with our American counterparts....
So yes i'm going to start one of those annoying polls... Personally I think MPH should be kept.

MPH. We know the certain milestones in drag racing are associated with mph, and you'de have to work out the conversion to km/hr. Also, some times you can roughly work out your cars power by lookng at mph, or vise versa in seeing the Hp and figuring out what mph it will run

Its a 1/4 mile. Measure in MPH. If we ever change to 0.4 km racing we can measure in KPH, until then its MPH IMO.

Yep its mph for me too. Even though I have grown up in the metric age its Drag Racing over a 1/4 Mile so MPH it should be.

Timing software could easily print both on the slip.

MPH !
Drag racing is one of the few "old" sports left. It has a lot of technology in it's cars and tracks but the readouts should be MPH. It's also a link to past performances and records. Kph sounds like tiddlywinks. |

MPH definitely. Some things should stay with the imperial measurements.
For example, what the hell is a Ford 22.86cm diff? And try ordering 431.8mm diameter tyres................. |

MPH should stay
and while we're at it, the 1/4 mile is not 400 meters, it is 1320 feet which is 402. something meters :

The only reason why i would like KPH is because i can at least hit 3 figures on the left side of the decimal in the XB

Yep, MPH is drag talk, as everybody here says you can't have 1/4 mile and KPH.
There is no need for metricity to please a few ignorant politically correct fools in drag racing! |

being raised up around drag racing MPH is the only way to be, at the winters i found i was trying to change kph into mph and it just wasnt working for more so if they want to reed it in kph then they should do it mph as well for us old timers!!

Who would have thought that it would be difficult to multiply a speed by 1.6.

Got to be MPH,although the way these turbo falcon's are going we might need to go feet per second.
And compare them to a speeding bullet. |

Got to be MPH
Some things just don't sound right going metric. Babies weights got to be in pounds.... Length of your willy got to be in inches... I'm sure there's lots more....
