Default Not funny mooron

Was channel surfing last night and caught a bit of Chasers War on Everything. I don't watch this show because it's not my type of humour (stupidity), but I see enough of them on the news when they screw up.

Anyway, last night stupid puts a stocking over his head and thinks it's funny walking into shops pretending to be a normal guy out shopping. Needless to say he scared the crap out of everyone.

One guy locked himself in a cage and called the Police, yeah funny, hah hah.

I wished someone had of pulled out a baseball bat and smacked him, now that would be funny.

Now that kind of TV I could watch.

Next reality TV show: "Who to club next?" staring such guests like Steve Bracks & Co, Moron RICE Driver and many more...

You're joking right?

The Chaser is awesome. And the things they do are far from stupid 'MTV's Jackass' style stuff, most of what they do actually has a commentary on the current social, political and news climate. Not a subtle commentary but clearly too subtle for you.

Go back to sipping lemon tea and watching A Current Affair, grandma.

Nup.....I'm with jaydee here.

There's pranking public figures like policiticians and then there's scaring the hell out of innocent people in public and calling it entertainment.

Where was the social commentry on context in this skit?

That people will descriminate against people impersonating an armed robber....wow...

I say they went to far with that one.

Well below their usual standard....well below.

I was careful to say "most of" what they do. : The examples Jaydee gave certainly aren't benchmark material.

Armed with a stocking!
Personally I would say that chaser's is hilarious some of the time, but I find myself cringing more than laughing.

in general i like the show - sometimes they go a bit far with cringe moments. But sometimes they have funny funny stuff - anyone remember the speedo/ politician episode?

Brilliant satire at times but sometimes they miss the mark. No show is 100% comedy gold.

The chasers war on everything is the best because they do these things, things that other comedians don't dare too.

The show is awesome!

Just change the channel if you don't like it.

I agree. I know that the shows not to everyone's taste but for some people the show is great. at least it's different from every other crime show on t.v. I think it's good that there is a show that can poke fun at stuff people take so seriously. I love the show and I've watched those guys every since it was CNNNN. POLITICAL SATIRE ROCKS!

Here's the thing with the "Change the Channel" statement, I find it's like everything else around here. You don't like it or it isn't right, don't try and change it or discuss it, Just shut up and put up. Great community here. :

Like those that break the speed limit because they don't believe the road has the correct limit, do they fight to have it changed or just fight to get out of a fine they deserve?

Everyone has thier own opinion and when you try to voice, get shut down around here!

OH PS. I'm 19, about 50 to 60 years off being a grandma, and I believe even Today Tonight or ACA has more usual content then som shows these days!

Just because it is your opinion does not neccisarily make you right, remember that before you get on your soapbox on top of your high horse.

Strange no one has mentioned the disclaimer straight after the skit, it's the only time i've seen them do that, so they know it was a stupid thing to do, but i guess some of the reactions were pretty funny.

Also i'm sure every episode that airs has to be reviewed by the watchdogs and the like, no one got hurt, so all is good! I'd be more concerned with the Guy at Woolworths who accepted the pokie machine. :

It brings a reality check to the dumbass politicians and political correctness.

That's where you're wrong. Today Tonight of all shows is as staged as Chasers (can be). The lack of real news, and the more popular gossip seems to have taken over. Today Tonight is a perfect example of what will happen if Women's Weekly and Take That etc got given a Video camera and a half an hour slot. Nothing but crap.

It's sad to say it but even A Current affair is leading down that path, I think Ray Martin should come back and bust some skulls. That's where Chasers come in, they take real issues, and take advantage of them.

If you want real news stories get on the internet, you won't find them with Today Tonight or ACA.

I don't really see your point? It's deemed acceptable by the censors and the only way you'll get the show off the air is to change the channel (though, you're less likely to achieve that on ABC). If you don't like the content, then don't watch it, it's a very simple concept.

Comedy is very subjective, I like Chaser but couldn't sit through 15 seconds of The Three Stooges without throwing something at the TV. I think Rove is as funny as a kick in the nuts yet I'll wet myself watching Mick Molloy.

I haven't seen the skit the OP found in poor taste yet, but when you're edgey sometimes it just doesn't come off in execution. The ten questions they did with Sophia Loren was a trainwreck but they still aired it. So it wasn't funny, but no harm was done.

But we can't discuss why we don't or do like the show? Isn't that what these forums are about? Dicussing things?

100% correct! Some of the more outrageous stunts, like the stocking over the head one, are set up because the ABC will not let them do it otherwise.

The guys from The Chaser even admitted the fact on TV and radio after being attacked by Today Tonight a few months back. So settle down guys, have a breather, and enjoy the show.

My point weren't about the show, more about the fact those before said basically get over it and change the channel. I'm simply saying some dont like the show (jaydee etc.) and others do, so the comments like shut up and change the channel were stoping us or jumping on use because we make an opinion?
