Hi guys, did my first ever run on the quarter last night. My best time was ET 13.627 sec at 105.14mph.
What do you horsepower guru's think I am really putting down. I still beleive the ute is capable of 13.5 no worries. (I have to learn more yet) Still had a ball and cant wait to go back. (I know I can get it right, gees its bloody addictive knowing you can do better) Will post a time slip if I ever get my scanner to talk to my computer : Cheers John

For a heavy car, they run great mph. How was your traction?? Get some more grip and times will tumble more.

Hey thanks man, grip was a bit of a problem, and I am only a novice at this so I will inprove
I ran as I would on street with hard cover, spare tyre etc. Except I was running with 20 psi on rear only in 19" standard GT-P tyres. I am supposed to have 365 horses at rear I think (dyno sheet in office) Any way it felt good and I know I can do better. The only thing I might have to do is gat a clutch upgrade. I slipped it half a track on about the 5th run. Thought I was spinning wheels in 3rd at half track :togo: Video shows a fair bit of smoke at **** end from clutch Hehe was fun definately going back

Pacy extractors 4 into 1, 3" Difillipo Cats, Custom 2 1/2" twin system s/s Cold air intake and K&N filter, larger intake hose and helix spacer, custom tuned to 98ron fuel. And a Ripshift Oh...... Just clicked over 10,000 km May go for G&D airbox and bigger throttle body, then retune. Would like to have a little over 290rwkw, so its a boss 290 where it counts : After that I wil wait till out of warranty and look at force feeding it somehow. John

a 13.6 first time out, Bloody awesome.... I went to Willowbank last night and the best I could pull was a 13.9. I was dissapointed I was hoping for a 13.6 with all the mods I have.

Great effort first time mate, as others said get that 60' under 2.00 (will need sticky tyres) and you will do a 12 plenty of room for improvement.

Good first run.
I disagree with the others tho. I think your times won't improve a whole lot with the 6spd. Tyres might make a small difference, but the gearing doesn't help us manual drivers. GT and ur ute have a little taller gearing tho, which might be of benefit.. An auto, yes, you would drop a fair bit of time on good tyres. These big utes are hard to get away cleanly. First needs carefull massaging to get off the line, 2nd can go up in smoke if your too heavy, and a good track will see third hook up. My best 60' on stock tyres ( 18's ) with road pressure is 2.18. What kind of revs are you pulling over the line?? I'm hitting the chimes thru 4th gear before the white line.. Going into 5th costs me 1/2 a second as it's a long change. As an indicator, I ran up 400 rwhp on the APC dyno where u made urs.. and I run 115mph with that tune and a horrid 60' aswell. goood effort |

Superpusuite can and possible will get a high 1.9 60' and will get a very respecable ET accordingly. Go figure it out rule of thumb a fact every .1tenth off your 60' take .2 off your ET and that a auto is any different are you on the funny stuff. Last edited by Quadcams; 30-12-2005 at 09:00 PM. |

mmmm. I have made over 20 passes and every pass is as consistant as buggery. Maybe you should note I am running BOG STOCK DUNLOP tyres at 38psi. I know with good tyres I can go low 12's, but that isn't in the equation, and i'm not concerned as to how fast my car will go on radials.. If I pull up at the lights, it's a fast car that will go around me.. BTW, my 0-60 mph, as timed on my PDA, which plugs into my OBDII port is 4.32 seconds. Pretty damn good on street rubber, which have turned to the tune of 28,000 km at that time, with 38 psi in them. Simon from Extreme ran 12.3 @ 120mph with Hankooks and a rip shifter with ~370rwkw in his F6, explain that one?????? I can drive. No doubt. |

I know this because he borrowed my rims to put them on and I was there when he ran it. Doesn't matter anyway I guess....... I run 275 K104 Hankooks at 38 PSI with no burnout- I would always run in street trim until I get to that elusive stage wher I'd do anything to break an 11 or something......

Do they hook up better/worse?? crunch numbers tho. 12.3, 120 mph, 370 rwkw and a rip shifter, on the same tyres his other car with an auto and 280rwkw ran a 12.2 @ 115mph.. manual + power = rubbish times in comparrison to autos'.. Fastest F6 runs 12.0 with 400 rwkw, manual. Fastest XR6T runs 9.9 with 430 rwkw and a 3 spd. I'm not bagging anyone, just trying to make ppl understand how hard it is to get low ET's out of manaul equipped cars, especially utes with hard covers. ( + 200kg's on a sedan ) Tyres or not. Also how good Superpursuit's times are comparative to others, on his street 19" tyres. Ay Kwinana, I have sen nothing run 115mph that hasn't run an 11, except mine. All on slicks, all autos. I have never seen a street car on street tyres ( Not drag radials ) run quicker than 115mph. I have talked to guys who run 11.6's at 112mph on slicks scratch there heads at my ET's. Half track I demolish anything that has got the jump on me.. From 120kph, i'm just as quick as my mates CBR1000RR who ran 10.87. I'll take any answer, it just isn't as easy as " Learn to Drive ".. |

Good time for your first run John, and a manual too !!!
I have basically the same mods as you but i run a stall convertor and 4.11's. I had a minor issue with some torque reductions still in place, but hope to run a 12 something next time out. I use M/T Et street radials 275/17's and they hook up really well.

I find it best to drive to your dyno chart, shifting where u make your peak power, regardless of what it is and where the power is made. No point revving to 5900 if the thing is just making noise.. Oh, and make sure the car is running atleast 2 mins before the run, don't kill it and push it to the line etc. The pcm needs this time to get the sensors up to temp and gather it's info.. |
