This came from Rod Barrett just now......
FPV OPEN DAY Letter to all participating clubs November 1st 2007 Dear FPV fan and loyal supporter, I am aware many of you have been waiting on news of the 2008 Open Day at FPV. Since joining FPV I have been extremely conscious of the need to communicate with you all about the future of the Open Day after FPV celebrated 10 years of Open Day’s in 2007. The success of the FPV Open Day has been attributed to all that have organised and participated in the event over that 10 year period; therefore FPV will not abandon the event, however changes need to occur – both in timing and in structure in 2008. It has been decided that the 2008 Open Day in its traditional date and format will not take place. This decision, taken by the FPV management recently, was made based on a number of factors; most importantly finding a date early in the year – which we have been unable to do - due to so much happening around the Ford ranks between February 10th & March 24th. For the 2008 event to be successful, we needed to be able to find a suitable date. Presently, the early year calendar is so packed, and at the same time the now limited human resource available at FPV will be fully concentrating on building and launching the F6 X and its best cars ever for its loyal fan base - the new “Orion” FPV range. Secondly, at every Open Day we engage the services of FPR to open its doors and provide an opportunity to view the team infrastructure and its new merchandise range. With the V8 Supercar season staring so early in the year that has proven another hurdle to overcome. Feb 10 Brisbane Motor Show Feb 17 All Ford Day at Geelong Feb 24 Clipsal 500 Mar 2 Melbourne Motor Show Mar 10 Long Weekend (Vic, Tas, SA) March 17 Australian Grand Prix March 24 Easter We will unfortunately disappoint some people with this news, although many others will appreciate the reasons why the 2008 Open Day in its current format will not go ahead for all of the reasons listed above; however there is goods news to end on. FPV will, closer to the new Orion launch, hold a BBQ and preview day of the entire FPV range at its Campbellfield facility for all to view before it goes on public sale. At this time we hope to display an example of every car ever produced at the current FPV production plant. More details to follow with a firm date to be announced in the New Year. Kind Regards, Rod Barrett General Manager

Another study found Australians drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means, on average, Australians get about 41 miles to the gallon. Kind of makes you proud to be an aussie. |
