Marketed as a performance ute, with the smallest, least powerful engine among its competitors yet the highest price tag.

Please forgive my ignorance, but other than the V6 Amorok, what other dual cab ute has more power?

Funny how people pick and choose their arguments. Bang on about how people buy these things only to use them on road in the suburbs, so Ford go out and build one that will belt anything out there on a rough dirt track and those same people still aren’t happy.

Cheaper than I expected.
Maybe Ford realized asking for a high price on release then dropping the price a few months later is not the best marketing strategy.
Worked well selling the Mustang for a reasonable price.

But then again what is the cost for on road costs at this price point?
LCT? GST? Probably be 85 once its all said and done.

Exactly, just GST wacks it up to $82,489 as a bare minimum.

Until you realise that those 2 litres have almost as much hp and more torque than an XB 5.8

Yes, almost as much as an NA engine designed 50 years ago. And these 50 year old engines still run!

Let’s see if this 2.0 with boost wound up to give it more power even survives the warranty period.

Yes it might do. It has 10 gears not 3 and 2 turbos and it still can’t keep up to a Xb gt. You think after 45 years they would do something a little more. A joke really when you think about it. That’s why I spent my money on a sprint

Commercial vehicle's don't incur LCT and GST is included in the price, but onroads/dealer delivery will be 5k? at a guess

I'm predicting this thing will be insane.
Don't let the 'small' 2.0L twin turbo diesel motor fool you, this thing will be a rocket.
And it appears (on paper anyways) that it has received the necessary suspension upgrades too.
Plus it looks pretty cool.
I'm not expecting an F150 Raptor type vehicle by any means (that thing is seriously cool), but I reckon FoA has done a pretty good job with it.

Racing around on a rough dirt track is an American thing, who does that here? I'll wait until a 4wd-specialist site reviews it. Just because something can go quick on a dirt track doesn't mean it might be any good dragging a camper-trailer around typical Aus tracks

At a guess, I'd say that would be the aim.
It's clearly not aimed at the city streets

I dont think it will struggle with a camper trailer, but some of the big off road vans will make it non viable.
I work for caravan dealer and without a doubt the Ranger is the most common tow tug for those seeking the big vans and in particular the off roaders.
I've spoken to a few of the owners and mentioned the Raptor and the common theme is that with only 2.5t capacity it doesn't leave much room, if any, for the extra's that go with travelling the lap in a descent sized off road van and so they bought the more durable Wildtracks etc.

Its true potential is such a niche market.

We like driving on beaches. Up and down sand dunes. Surely the suspension should be good for that too.

I can't wait to see a 4wd specialist review it too

This thing would be the ducks nuts at somewhere like lancelin.

If you want to drive on sealed roads and tow there's an xlt or wildtrack.
Anyone who buys a raptor (ranger or f-150) for that purpose hasn't done their research.

Funny how an extra option to the line up now seems like its the only choice to buy.....mind you it's funny how people think a global car is designed for Australia only.

Lancelin agree, indeed it would be a very good vehicle for that entire hinterland to coast from there past Geraldton. Lots of beach work when not at work in the paddocks.

Whilst the Raptor isn't really up my alley, I can certainly respect those that do purchase one.

The Raptor is a brand image builder. A product that people will buy because they want one, not need one. The exact same reason people were attracted to FPV's, GT's and XR for generations.

I would assume that most Raptors will never see a rough enough road to challenge its purpose designed suspension. Just like many high performance Falcons that have never seen a racetrack to exploit their impressive power.

Just trying to provide a bit of a different perspective.
