Probably a dumb question
BUT

Why are some peoples/users tags coloured purple in the "current active user tab"
at the bottom of the threads ?
Sorry for dumb *** Q

Depends on the user status, could be a donating member, moderator, admin etc.

It means you've been in their profile. Try it with someone who's not purple and see if changes.

Blem, from what I understand:

Bold Purple = Donating members
Bold Yellow = Moderators
Bold Green = Directors/Super moderators/Chairman
Plain Blue = Members
Bold Blue = Site sponsors
If you see a "+" beside a name, they're on your buddy list

I don't recall seeing any other colours or bold font.

You did miss one and it is a colour that no-one wants to be:

Red - Banned member
