Hey all, need help with car advice. She already has owned a VEII SV6, wants another one, half considering Mondeo. Won't touch a Falcob. What's an extremely fun to drive used car that has a ton of boot space, is safe and <$25k?
If an SV6 is best so be it but I just want to show there's better options around. Thanks. |

25K should be able to get you into a XR6T/G6ET or an SS/Calais V.

+1. Why won't she touch a Falcon?
It looks like she must have liked her previous SV6 to want another one. If it must be a Holden then why not an SS?? Get that V8 goodness.

I'd look at Liberty's or maybe a Mazda 6 hatch. Better put together and still have a lot of boot space. SV6's sound horrible when you give them the berries.

My missus didn't want the Bogan badge driving around in a commodore. So buying the BF xr6 was winner.
Look at a XR6 focus if you want fun to drive.

For starters who is buying the car?
As in physically who's money will be used to buy it? If the answer is your missus , let her get whatever she wants. As a boyfriend you don't have to like what she buys. Your only job is to make sure she doesn't buy a wreck and doesn't get stitched up on a deal. There is a big difference to assisting and supporting someone and making their decision for them! |

New Aurion AT-X is $29990 drive away at the moment.
Argueably better quality than both Falcon and Commodore. Surprisingly fast too.

Like said previously let your girlfriend buy what she wants, she is the one who has to drive it so just be glad its not some hateful pink micra.
I use to get ~11L\100 out or my old VE SS which was a wagon so a bit heavier too. Nursing it I got 9.8L\100 driving too and from work for two weeks (Elizabeth to the airport). VE SS's are great cars and I never had a fault with either of the 2 I had.

I think an aurion is a great buy... Tell her to spend $29990 and get a brand new one.
They will give the sv6 (and the falcon 6) the heave ho |

If you talk her out of getting what she wants you continually be blamed for whatever is or goes wrong with vehicle she gets and a VE SV6 is OK IMO.

Brand new Fiesta RS?
VE calais V? Suggest, but make it her call, and no matter what happens, never say "I told you so" if it turns poorly.

Yeah exactly, she obviously prefers it's character, but just feel there's gotta be something more interesting on offer.

Spending that sort of money, she should look for a new car.
Nothing beats the new car smell and knowing no one has passed wind on your seats. Even if car is lower spec or slower, get it new for that money A used sv6 is a thrashed sv6. That will convince her |

Buying a 2nd hand commode makes no sense.
Either she wants a decent car, or (like many young ladies) wouldn't know a decent car if it hit her in the ****. If she is the latter, then buy a new Hyundai, it will probably have built-in facebook connectivity and other important crap. |

What's it to you what she buys? How about if the roles were reversed?

She will have a lot of trouble with rear vision and reversing, thanks to the dopey positioning of the gay Holden attempt at a 'spoiler'.
The wife drove a couple of VE SV6s as hire cars at her old job, and everyone in her office agreed that the rear vision sucked, with the rear window and mirror permanently blocked. .......potentially dangerous, also.

My brother in law bought a VE SV6 for $12k with 150k km on the clock, so why would you spend $25k on one?
Buy a BA or BF GT for that sort of money (technically not a falcon).

There's ONE rough looking high km example on there at that. Anything half decent is 30k+...
Got me thinking tho, that green thing has been sitting on Carsales for ages, I wonder how low he'd go to shift it...
