The only part shared by either vehicle was in fact the Bosch headlight assemblies. XD looks way better in my opinion. The Commodore/Opel I think was a little more shared. Ed

I think the world is full of cars that either share a common platform (eg Ford Fiesta/ Mazda 2)
Or have actually been designed with a common corporate façade. What I find intriguing is cars like these:

The 2001 Daihatsu Mira Gino "Minilite". Three guesses what it's a clone of.
I quite like it, to be honest. At least it looks much better than this awful Chinese Mini clone by Lifan:

i always though the granada was a bit smaller, like the size of a TE-TF cortina.

I thought the Granada looked a bit like a TE/TF Cortina as well as the XD Falcon.
Those top photos are interesting. What models are those? I'm guessing they were in an Asian market? (going by the number plates) Sorry for all the questions.

There was an Alfa Romeo that was a dead ringer for the Evo 10. Not sure what model (156?) but remember seeing a photo of the rear end and was an almost total clone.

A few I'd forgotten about, the XA-XC coupes looked a lot like the Ford Torino
It's also very similar to the 1971/72 Mustang, particularly the front end
