Huh?

Turbo engines all used the same camshafts as the NA engines. There's no such thing as F6 cams.

Bigger intercooler and injectors, back half of the turbo is a bit bigger, stronger pistons with slightly lower compression and more boost basically.

Copied and pasted off Wikipedia, love it .............

Barra 270T FG Edit
This engine is found in the FG/FG-X Falcon XR6 Turbo, and was produced between mid 2008 and late 2016. Although the power figures for the revised turbo engine for the Barra 270T FG mimic the old FPV turbo I6, the engines are quite different. It has a redesigned low-profile intake plenum (replacing the circa 1994 broadband manifold intake which originated in the naturally aspirated EF Falcon), a smaller turbocharger which can spool faster, an new intercooler, and also a modified cylinder head to increase compression. The end result is that the FG XR6 Turbo is actually faster than the FPV's BF Typhoon although they share the same power output. This engine employs an transient over-boost feature for a maximum 10 seconds when optimal atmospheric conditions are met when under full throttle, boosting torque to 586 Nm.[8] However, there are claims that this figure is significantly higher than 586 Nm. Some sources claim over 640 Nm is achieved for 10 seconds. It is also rumoured that Ford under-quoted the Barra 270T FG's power figures, with Ford Engineers claiming that the actual power output is close to or over 305 kW. Numerous dynamometer printouts from various standard XR6s with the Turbo engine help to back up Ford Engineers' claims.
Power: 270 kW (362 hp) @ 5250 rpm
Torque: 533 N·m (393 lb·ft) @ 2000-4750 rpm
Compression Ratio: 8.8:1

Barra 310T Edit
This engine is found in the FG Falcon based FPV F6. It is the high-power variant of the FG XR6 Turbo's Barra 270T. It was produced between mid 2008 and mid 2014, ending production when FPV shut down. Featuring a larger turbocharger and intercooler, different pistons to reduce compression, and larger injectors than its less powerful sibling, it was the first engine manufactured in Australia to produce more than 100 hp (75 kW) per litre, producing 310 kW at the flywheel.

It is rumoured that Ford under-quoted all turbo 6 figures to save face and to save the V8 models at the showroom when delivering the V8's power figures at the time. There are claims from Ford Engineers that say Ford under-quoted the F6's power figures, with numerous tests Australia wide that back up Ford Engineers' claims that the Barra 310T's power output is actually closer to 360 kW with torque exceeding 700 Nm.
Power: 310 kW (416 hp) @ 5500 rpm[9]
Torque: 565 N·m (417 lb·ft) @ 1950-5200 rpm
Compression Ratio: 8.47:1

Barra 325T Edit
The final and most powerful variant of the 4.0-litre I6 cylinder turbo-petrol engine featured in the FG-X XR6 Sprint. This engine is the most powerful six cylinder produced in Australia and was built in very limited numbers, and with only 500 for Australia and 50 for New Zealand (Actual production is 560, as there are 10 pre-production vehicles). Each engine had its own numbered build plaque attached to the rocker cover, which is painted in the same colour as the Territory Turbo rocker cover. The engine is based internally upon the Barra 270T, with extras added from the Barra 310T variant such as turbo, intercooler and injectors; and a custom designed carbon fibre air intake. It was chosen to base the engine on the 270T instead of the 310T due to the increased compression ratio. The engine employs an over-boost feature for 10 seconds when optimal atmospheric conditions are met when under full throttle, boosting power & torque to 370 kW and 650 Nm.
Power: 325 kW (436 hp) @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 576 N·m (425 lb·ft) @ 2750 rpm
Compression Ratio: 8.8:1

According to Justin the pistons aren't any stronger, its cast exactly the same as the xr6t, the only difference is the top for compression reasons. And a different gudgeon pin to suit.

Awesome car! I love how clean and simple the engine bay is. And seemed extremely reliable! The Falcon 6 was such an amazing engine.

Are the turbo Barra motors a significantly much heavier engine compared to the stock motor it replaces in a X, E & A series conversion?

Anyone got any hints, tips or info for those thinking of doing the swap into their Falcon?

After looking at this thread, there may some members & guests quietly considering doing the swap lol!!

cheers, Maka

Not sure what truck engines you're thinking of.

These days 2000ft/lb (not NM) is considered light on.

HP is getting a lot closer, torque is night and day.

I did my time on Cummins N14's They were about 525 HP...Thats '14 litres' and when i left the Signature 600's (600HP) just came out.

Totally different engine.

I cant remember the N.M figures now but it was'nt far off what the 325T is putting out back then 20 years ago.

Even back then we used to plug in the puta and you could set/program what HP figures you wanted just by punching in a few numbers.

That was 20 years ago!!!.

Not that i've ever heard but i left just as the Signatures came out.

I have heard stories of them being quite thirsty though???

A rebuild on a Signature is apparently about 60k these days!!!

They used to fit them to Volvo's way back then and even these days there are some Macks getting around with them fitted too.

O.k you are correct Jmack.

Go down the page and the NM figures are alot higher.

Still not bad from Ford AU for a 4.0 car engine i reckon.

That's an interesting read, thanks for posting.
Way back when Volvo first released the F16 engine they were touting it's 2000+ ft/lbs of torque. We don't seem to have moved far in 20 odd years although horsepower has increased dramatically in comparison.

The ISX looks like it's being torque limited by the puter.

Well ye going by the chart you'd only rev to 1700rpm then change gears as it all drops off after that.

Realistically trucks only need mountains of torque to pull all the weight when taking off fully loaded.

High KW is great but its the NM's that really do all the work.

Well just quickly while we're on the subject.

My old man works for a BIG drainage company in Melbourne operating excavators of all sorts of of sizes right up from 30 to 70Tonners.

Anyways they have Macks fitted with Signature 600's.

Apparently recently one of the Signatures seized up while hauling an excavator.

Cummins told the boss's the block was twisted and it was cheaper to fit a whole new engine than rebuild the bent one!!! (which makes sense!)

60k down the drain lol!!!

Some of the stories my old man comes home with about operators and the **** that goes wrong would blow your mind lol???
